Back from court
First I would like to say hello to everyone, just became a member.
So I was arrested last month on possession(marijuana) of less than an ounce.
went to court a few days ago, decided to first have a word with the solicitor.
after telling him it was my first offense...even brought in a drug test...showing him i was clean for an entire month with negative results..he still didnt care too much and said if you plead guilty your license will get suspended 6-12months and you will be on probation and do community service.
So i decided to talk to some lady there, and she reviewed my case...and told me I have two choices...either come back to court in december...about 13 weeks from now...in that time period i would have to pay a bunch of fines, write an essay, be on probation, do community service, etc...or i can come back to court september of 2009 for expungement. so i chose the latter...and walked out. so now i will go back in 12months and face the same charge and get it dropped.
anyone experienced anything like this before? I thought i would settle everything in court that day but strange that this happened to me.
Thanks guys

Who was the lady you talked to? I find it strange that one official told you you would get a suspended license, but then it turns out the charges are going to be totally dropped. But then again, the system is all fucked up. Two different people can go through on the same charge with the same record, one can get jail, the other can go home. It's crazy.
What state are you in, out of curiosity? (if you're comfortable sharing that)

Back from court
It was busy that day in court, so when I was called up to talk to the solicitor he kinda rushed me...as soon as he read over my case he told me i can get my license suspended, so that freaked me out real bad...then i requested to talk to a public defender(lady), she was nice and told me I will have court next year for expungement(sept09). i just want to know am i cleared until my court day next year, will they call me for any drug tests? cause all she told me was call the court house in 6 months and they will give you a court date 6 months later.
keep in mind, this is a different court house i will be going to, not the same one i was at last week.
I live in Atlanta, Georgia.
Thanks.

get busted, then register for a site Called Cannabis.com.. Sounds like a great excuse for the man to watch your tracks..
Keep your eyes trained,
Maybe your first stop should of been to an United Way to offer some volunteer time. Not airing out your Legal trips..
enjoy and live long

whats wrong with receiving legal advice here?
they should of just given me probation and let me go....solicitor telling me i would get my license suspended for my first offense and it was possession under an ounce? i have nothing to hide, im clean, been clean. i just think they make a big deal out of it.
24 years, been clean, even brought my drug results, showing all negatives, even brought in a Alcohol evaluation sheet that i went in for 30 minutes to answer some questions, apologized to the judge, and solicitor, and he tells me my license get suspended????
bet he didnt care what I even told him, if i knew it would be like this i would of hired an attorney, but why pay the money over some thing like this? if it wasnt my first offense ok maybe i would of hired a laywer, but they need to chill ...and give me probation, and let it go. i made an effort, and they show me no sympathy.
