Advice for a first timer, please!
I'm a first time grower and have a small garden outside. Throughout the vegetation period, I used some simple 17-17-17 fertilizer I came across at the local store. Dynamite is the name of the brand, and it is claimed to be very long lasting. I only applied the fertilizer three of four times during the vegetative period and witnessed substantial growth.
The garden began to flower a few weeks ago and I now have some very strong, hearty looking buds forming. I plan on harvesting within the next two to three weeks, depending on the weather, and I've yet to put any bloom-specific fertilizer into the soil. Should I pick up something that is not long lasting and apply, or wait and hope there is enough nutrients left from the Dynamite I applied a little over a month ago? The buds appear to be very strong and the aroma is breathtaking, but they are very fluffy and not very dense. I'm hoping they will fill out within the next few weeks, but wanted to know if fertilizing now is a poor choice. Thanks in advance for any advice!

The plant you show has several weeks left before it's ready to harvest. Go to a nursery and get a blooming food. A good blooming food will have an analysis of around 0-57-10. Notice the first number is 0, that's nitrogen. It should be 0 or very low. The second number, Phospate, should be high. The third number is Potash. You may not find a food with this exact ratio, just get it as close as you can, as you really don't have time to buy something the regulars on this site would recommend. The buds will firm up, the plant just needs more time.

Cool. I'm in the northeast, so my grow time is rather limited due to frost. I'll pick up something from the nusery and hope they can get a few more weeks outside.

You're 2-3 weeks out from harvest, but at this point, be very careful about fertilizing. IF you add too much too late, your buds may taste harsh. I would look for a bat guano fertilizer, and scratch it into the soil around the base of the plant to give the extra boost of Phosphorous that plants like during bloom, without over-doing it.
