NYS MEDICAL MARIJUANA & CHRONIC PAIN
Hi there,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me.... I'm looking for medical marijuana info for NYS, everything I've found is confusing... here' s the long and short...
My brother was stabbed in the spine... he has nerve damage, and severe chronic pain. He's on TONS of useless and addictive painkillers. Can he get Med Marijuana in NYS, and how if he can. Also, what would be the criteria for a patient? ....
If not, is there an alternative like THC pills or something? To help him?
Cheers!

So I don't know about the MMJ laws in your state, but Marinol, a pill form of THC, can be PRESCRIBED by any doctor! Seems like creating THC in a test tube makes it, somehow, not a schedule 1 drug! (Ah, the wonders of doublethink!)
The results are variable, however. Some folks don't like the effect as compared to real cannabis. Others love it. You won't know until he tries it.
Check NORML for the laws in your state.

Cannabis is against the law in New York State.
Like Granny said though there is the Marinol alternative.. a poor substitute.

Most doctors are refusing to prescribe Marinol due to the hassle of going to court hearings or having to write letters to employers about the positive UA. It really sucks because the stuff is a viable alternative.
