Halogen bulbs are a mistake. You want Metal Halide or High Pressure Sodium bulbs which require a ballast. CFL bulbs are better, if you stuck the halogen bulbs in a lamp fixture. Sorry.
Double check what you bought. Read the sticky at the top of this forum.
Well... did you keep the receipt?
A few problems that are found with Halogens is the high heat output... inefficient lumen output (low lumens p/ sq. foot) and they are often in the wrong spectrum that a plant needs to grow.
I'd recommend checking out CFL's or, depending on space and ventilation specs, maybe a small High Intensity Discharge light.
Good luck :stoned:
If growing weed was easy....everyone would be doing it.
alright..lol...back to the store i go
Haha... check some info before you go. I'll edit once I post this. Waiiiiiiiit!!
Edit: Ok... now that I have your attention. Before you go to the store, come back, and post a thread asking if some new bulb will work... let us help
What kind of space are you growing in? How many plants? Give us as much info as you have. Type of ventilation/exhaust... also what type of local climate you are expecting for the grow cycle. Oh and budget is a good one too.
With this info, and personal research... you can really pinpoint the type of lighting that would work best for you. There are a few options:
Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs = CFL
High Intensity Discharge = Metal Halide & High Pressure Sodium
or if you have some money and desire to experiment, possibly LED's.
- I can't think of any other types of lights :stoned:
By giving additional info... people with experience can guide you towards finding the most appropriate lighting set-up for your space.
i just dont know what size lights to get..they have been about 1 month under some flourescent drop lights..but i think i need more light...i guess i am going to take the halogens back..i have 3 plants under 3 of those 125 watt drop lights..

I'm still a little fuzzy, on what kind of lights these are?...incandescent light bulbs?...they are worse than halogen bulbs. The CFLs are the best, next to HID lights. Desribe your "droplight"
Above all that: you need a reflector to send the light down and reflective walls to catch light too. (an inclosed space)...need much more info...to be of any real help.
