I just burned the new album at 320 kbps from GoMusic.ru.

I really like the new album but I need to listen to it many more times though.

To me, the only thing holding back this album is the guitar sound. I don't think its distorted/heavy enough. Since it was Rick Rubin producing it, I was hoping the guitars would sound like Slayer or Hatebreed. I think Load and ReLoad had heavier guitars, but I am sooo glad Metallica have returned to the complex based songs on AJFA and Master of Puppets. It kicks the shit out of these newer rock/metal, no solos based bands.

But this album will become a classic right up there on par with the first 4 records.

i just so happened to have been driving home from night classes he other day and they were playing the whole thing on the radio while interviewing the band in between the songs. I couldn't really get into the music at all. I mean there's some cool parts on certain songs, but if i bought the cd, I could see my self skipping most of the tracks. It seems like a lot of the songs would build up then not go anywhere, like they were coming to a climax and then they'd just drop, plus i thought the lyrics were pretty lame like "love is a four letter word" Come on james...

I will say that its cool that they are returning to their roots so to speak. The songs did sound a lot like their older stuff off of the first 4 albums. I'm glad its not like St. Anger because I thought that album was total garbage.

Also, I think Lars Ulrich is a freaking hypocrite. Remember when he stirred all that shit with napster and tried to shut them down? He preached on and on about how bad piracy was yet now he's totally cool with it, what the hell??

I now have the full album via Isohunt, and am freaking loving it! But you know, it annoys me that stores still keep advertising new Metallica albums as "a return to old". No it's not! Not even close. It's a great album in and of itself, but not thrash or old-school by a long shot.


Also, Unforgiven 3 is a freakin' sweet song; I think my favorite on the album. But I don't get why it's even given that title; it doesn't have a single chord or lyric that's anything similar to the original two. :wtf:
Great song, amazing song, but it's not the unforgiven.

I downloaded this album yesterday. My fave song so far I The Unforgiven 3. I like how they are playing more in there old style again.

The way the guitars are not killed by distortion is good, the clarity of notes is better. I wouldn't want the guitars to sound like slayer, Metallica have way more melody and feeling than slayer, even when thrashing.

ITS FREAKING GREAT!!!!!!!!

I don't mean to be "that" guy that always complains about how a band sucks after a certain point, but I sat through this entire album and I've got to say it's Garbage. Metallica is done, James' voice lacks all passion and fire, Kirk's solos are very generic, and do I have to say anything about Lar's drumming. I mean some of the songs sound like something a first year guitar student put together, other are mediocre at best. For some reason Unforgiven 3 is my least favorite song.
Imagine if Metallica were to quit back around '94, '95, say James was to die (God forbid). They would've left an amazing legacy behind, instead their reputation has been tarnished. Many old school Metallica fans are disgusted by the direction they've taken after those years. Personally I think Load and Reload were alright albums, not good metal albums, but alright blusey rock albums. All I know is that Metallica is finished, to each his own, and if you like this album then that's great. But this album can't compare to anything they've previously done, or any of the works today's metal bands are putting out. Now Mastodon's new album, that's something to look forward to :thumbsup:
