MotheringCloning Advice in a Closet
Have a closet that is two feet deep by six foot wide. The ceilings are angled and are over 7 feet at the top, and go as low as five foot 8ish at the bottom. I am trying to grow enough moms to fill my whole room.
I'm undecided on weather or not to mother a good indica I have, or the Sour Diesel that I've worked with a fair amount but if I did the SD I would need about 60-65 cuts every cycle which takes about 10 weeks with the Diesel.
If I go with the indica I like to use about 20 plants per 1000 watter, so I'd need about 75 of the indica.
My question to you guys is what is the lowest amount of light I can use to achieve this goal? I plan to use a HID lamp most likely, but I worry about he heat in my room a bit. It's rare but I've seen my room get damn warm without the lamp.
I was thinking a 600 watt would be plenty for the moms, but the 600 watter will only light 3 feet side to side in the closet, and like I said it's only two feet deep so will this work?
I figure maybe 3-4 moms, but I'm trying to figure out if I should use two lights to cover more area instead of one.
For the clone side I would likely just use t5's to root them. Does anyone have that thread I saw a while back about making bonsai moms. I don't have huge space limitations with the mothers, and I likely would top anyhow but that thread had tons of great info.
Also, if anyone can share experience about how much a single 600 watt lamp increases the temp in a closet I would appreciate that - I haven't done anything in a closet before. Trying to figure out if I need to vent the closet which will be a bit difficult with the wall it shares but I could push air into my room if I need to.
Thanks!!
Was also thinking I could probably get a bunch more clones than I need if I put a board in the middle of the closet and do the moms on bottom, clones on top. How much space would be enough for the moms? Am I better off just growing 'em tall and having less?

found the bonsai thread

Guess my question is, if I don't have strict height limitations like some, is it easier to grow a bunch of cuts on a tall plant or is it beneficial to keep them small so the light penetrates more?
The pictures of the first cutting he did to open the plant up... damn he took alot off the top - it appears he snipped like 3-4 nodes down the plant. Is that what y'all do?

^^Good idea there.
A 4-foot T5 fixture is pretty sweet for a long skinny closet. Get the BLUE bulbs for it, and keep 4-6 moms in 3 gallon pots, trained to a nice flat shallow canopy.
The New Waves are the fixtures I've had experience with, and I have been just DELIGHTED with them. A cheap near-substitute would be a set of shop lights fitted with T8 tubes of the 'daylight' or 'cool white' sort.
Don't forget to plan your ventilation AND circulation; in an oddly shaped space, it is often the limiting factor!
