OK, my question is probably dumb, but people seldom want to be my friend, regardless :D ... when I get a 'friend' request, and I accept it, am I automatically on their friend list, too ? .. or, do I need to ask them for friend status ?? ... (this 'friend' stuff confuses me, ain't easy being a hermit sometimes) :jointsmile:
I'm pretty sure it's automatic that it becomes a two-way friendship. Let me try it and see. I'll request your friendship and we'll see if you then see me listed as your pal, too, when you accept me.
I have a question myself about the friend situation. If someone "breaks a friendship" does that then send a note of some kind to the person who's lost a friend? I'm not intending to break any friendships, and goodness knows I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. But one of the interesting things about this little feature, or perhaps it's a phenomenon that's unique to mods, is that occasionally members you've never seen before or talked to request friendships.
Let's experiment on this, Reaper. I'll request your friendship. I adore hermits. Then you can break the friendship and we'll see if I get a "Dear Bird" message. That's like a Dear John letter, only much more heartbreakingly cyber-sad. Then we can make up and be friends again, I hope. If we can't, I won't be able to go on living.
Thanks for the ?'s I/R: I was wondering the same and why it has break-up there, as well. Think I saw a button that says: "Ignore this person!" also! Seems like a slap in the face! Hope this trial works out with Birdgirl, will be nice to see the results!

I am as hermit as they come. I go for weeks without people! Tend to tire of 'um! Whenever they have a problem, it is your fault. Not here!
Here, I have something in common with everyone and it feels better! That is a friendship to me! Especially, when you admire the person's thot's, deeds and attitude about things in general!

It's not a dumb question, it confuses the hell out of me as well, bearing in mind I have never used a messaging system of any kind MSN etc.
I am trying to watch and learn B4 (messaging speak, good eh!) making the leap towards humiliation LOL.

OK, well, phase I of our experiment was successful. I requested to befriend Image Reaper and he did indeed appear on my list as a friend. So we have our answer on that.
Image Reaper, next time you're on, go in and break our friendship and we'll see what happens with that. Now that I think of it, the friendship initiator might have to initiate any break, but perhaps not. Be interesting to see. If you discover that you don't have the option to start the break, let me know here and I can try it.
I'm completely from the PC dark ages. Someone said this friendship business is "very My Space," which meant next to nothing to me since I'm not present there. Too old! (And too busy.)
I'm not complaining, I rather like the new system especially the social groups, but doesn't this COMPLETELY contradict what the board has said in the past in regards to enforcing some social rules?Quote:

This is a legitimate question and not me just bringing up something that's moot. What is the direction cannabis.com is trying to go; right now it seems to be contradicting itself.
You know, that's a very good question. I'm not sure what the line is, to be honest. We mods have wondered, too. We still maintain social areas. I think the overall purpose, even in the areas that seem unrelated, is still supposed to be medicinal cannabis information-sharing, even perhaps underlying those friendships and social groups. I think by virtue of the fact that this place is what is that we still succeed in that.
Be interesting to see if we get any input from our owners here. I'd like to hear their take on this.

I may request my name be changed to Gulfport Birdie.
