For use with butane, VaporGenie or Vaporstar are both good ones. Much better than the glass tube vapes. Vaporstar can be used with glass pipes (vaporstar.com) or just tubing. I've got both but prefer the vaporstar. Good price at dieselvapors.com. The Genie is more of a 'ready to go' pocket vape (makes a big bulge in your pocket though).
I've purchased a vapor genie and was not happy with it. Frankly, I thought it was a waste of bud. But I do intend of messing around with it a little more to see if maybe it would work if I had the technique down.I'm reluctant to do this however cause it wastes. It cost me $50 to get it which for me was a lot of money and I sort of felt like I wasted it. But I totally feel you man. I started using a vap and swore off the pipe- but those bulky machines aren't any good for a midnight toke in the woods. I suggest getting a volcano used on ebay for inside and a bubbler for to-go-smokes.
My friend owns a Vapman, it was 130 dollars I think. I have to say it is one of the best vaporizers I have used. It is butane powered, but you are not inhaling the butane since it only heats up the bowl, then you just inhale.
I find my hotbox to be portable. Depends on your criteria but just keep it in a box in gap back and toss it in the trunk. Its pretty inconspicuous. I used to take my vapor bros on the subway in my messenger bag. I have used mine in the car quite often with an AC adapter. Great for tailgaiting.
A lot of people have been happy with it. It does take time to learn how not to burn the bowl. The ceramic filter distributes the heat but it can't eliminate excessive heat.Quote:

The OP didn't say he was looking for a home vape, and a bubbler is not "an alternative to a pipe".Quote:

You're not inhaling butane with the Genie either. Carbon maybe, if you're not using a torch lighter. But butane escaping flame 'unburned' is a myth.Quote:

You can use pretty much any vape in a car, but is it "an alternative to a pipe"?Quote:

This one looks really bad ass and is made by the guys who made vapezilla.
Phedor Hybrid Vaporizer - Home
It's just a ceramic heater. You can get the same thing by buying a $30 ceramic soldering iron and taking it apart down to the heater. At $150, the Phedor is way overpriced IMO.
I got my boyfriend a vaporgenie for Christmas and we have definitely found it to be a great piece. It took us quite a bit to learn how to use it, and we can't use it if their is much wind, but when we did get the technique down to heating up the ground bud we found that it works like a charm:dance:. Some of the hits we get off of that thing can make you fly if you do it right.
I'm a vocalist and I can't afford to be smoking around performances, really i shouldn't be doing it at all but I have found that if I put myself onto just vaporizers about a week before a performance I am great! I would always ask for a shotgun off the vaporgenie when he would use it, we would both get great hits because we couldn't ever come close to zeroing it.
