First time cooking; few questions

Alright guys I need some help before attempting to cook with bud. It's going to be like four of us eating something. Now I've had brownies before (never cooked them though) but the other guys have never ingested thc.
My questions are:
1) Best thing to make including ease of prep and cooking.

2) Amount of nug (i've heard that it doesn't much matter the grade of the bud although it's bangings)

3) Will it smell?

4) Anything else you guys found out through your experiences that would be helpful.
