I had this happen with my plant however it was only one random shoot that just popped out the side of the stem and ended up becoming the largest growth node on my plant where all the others stayed the same 2 leaves per node
I read that its a genetic issue with the plant....
Having said that my plants going ok with its tri node

I've seen this happen aswell on someone else's grow log...I can't remember who's it was...I think it was about a month back
If anyone remembers it they should shoot him the link.

Good morning, Cannacom. :wtf:
Thanks for the input. =)
I think I remember reading over an LED grow log and someone blamed it on the LED's. But I'm running 200watts of mixed temp CFL's. (4 6500k, 2 4100k, 2 2700k)
I was hoping for a genetic mutation resulting in all nodes to be triple. But only the main stem. Should make for a fat main cola if it be female. :stoned:

PS: can the trait be carried on through DNA and possibly get more of a percentage for this to happen? Sorry if I offend anyone by wanting to harness mutation.

Prolly not a mutation, it is merely strain related and perfectly natural.
Do you know what strain you are growing?
Nice looking plant bro!

It's actually one of a few bag seed I have been saving up.
Got a couple other plants going too.
I'm using MG Seedling Starter and perlite. Eyeballed the ratio, something that looks like it has good airflow and moisture control. =) Oh yeah, ph'd water at 6.2, run off is roughly 7.

Small update on the tri-node plant.
Watered with 6.5ph'd h20.
Have a potassium def. it seems. (picture 4)
I'll get on it sometime tomorrow.

And the couple others in the background. :D
Just watered with 6.5 ph'd water.

It is a mutation, called whorled phyllotaxy. It's more common in some strains because it is a heritable trait, such as the sickle cell mutation in humans. Plants will grow out of it when they reach sexual maturity and the nodes go alternating.
