the DEA and medical mj

so i am in colorado and i know alot of you are from the east coast as well as cali of course, but for all of you that are growing legally as far as state laws go how comfortable are you with it? do u fear the DEA or some crook cop that thinks he is just bustin some stoners? i think every state is different, cali deff is on the main radar but is colorado as much? just wondering how all u medical patients are dealing with the changing times and how you are staying below the radar of our best friends the FEDS.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that states with dispensaries are going to pique the interest of the DEA more than a place like, say, Vermont, where you are pretty much required to grow it yourself or have it grown for you by your legal care-giver. Once there is a commerce in herb, you can bet that the DEA and the IRS will be keeping their ears to the ground.

I'm always amazed with Cali and the dispenseries......how is selling medical MJ at prices of $250-$600 per oz. compassionate care?

I work with a local hospice and a cancer group, and try to help people who really could use MJ to ease thier dying or to help fight cancer or more accurately help fight cancer curring drugs. I have never charged a patient one dime for medicine and never will. The acceptance of MJ by many as a medicine is difficult, especially older people. It really has a negative stigma attached to it. Add to that a high price tag and many who could benefit form it's use will never even consider it let alone try it.

Before anybody starts with what a good person I am, I should also tell you I sell commercially in order to supplement my social security and meager retirement income. It has allowed me to stay in my home, pay my bills and not be a burden to my children and grandchildren. And it also allows me to give true compassionate care to people who need it.

Shit, son; shake should be GIVEN away! Daaaaaaamn. That's still $200 a zip, which coincidentally is $20 and ounce more than I pay for nice looking and sweet smelling Nooks, that have been driven all the way from Quebec!

I hear ya oldmac. When I see prices listed for dispensaries I just shake my head... as long as the DEA still treats us as criminals on a federal level, despite our compassion or working within local laws, there's still a considerable risk that growers/suppliers have to take, and got through a merchant rather than direct sales to people in need, like the difference between a supermarket and a farm stand. It's very sad!

California is getting the smackdown because they've made a circus of medical marijuana system.

There are raids in Colorado. There are dispensaries but they seem few and far between. My caregiver there is working on opening one in the Boulder. They plan a very discreet, serve only their registered patients by appointment only in a medical building. His attorney advised that the main ways to avoid the wrath of the DEA is to stay small and Stinky nailed it, do not make too much money. Obviously, keep it on the down-low, do it by the book, do not traffic in the blackmarket ever. Making a mockery of national drug laws by opening a 24 hour neon light headshop also not a good idea. The cities of Colorado don't care for that much anyway.

California is a circus...

Here in GA the drug dealers, county cops, state cops and feds are all scratching each others back. If someone doesn't, that's when shit hits the fan.

You can count News companies in this too.

County cops do it for two fold reason, the crime goes "unreported" which makes local land more appealing, they make extra tax free money and obviously whatever money/drugs they seize from whomever not scratching their back goes to buy them new equipment after their patrol cars lose that new car smell or there is one too many cum stains to clean out after they're having sex with whomever in their patrol cars while they're supposed to be on duty.
