In Germany, Obama urges joint fight against terror - Yahoo! News
I'm a Barack supporter, and I know there are a lot of negative threads about him posted almost daily here.
The man can certainly draw inspiration and hope though. Look at the turn out he had here , in BERLIN !
Man,... I would hate to be the guy in charge of trying to get McSame nominated , B.O. is a machine !
Is it just me , or with this world tour he's on, conducting foreign policy already , seems like this election is over before its even happened ?

They loved him there, and it was a good speech. Every time he talked about cooperation, he got a cheer. It's such a contrast from the "with us or against us" kinds of ultimatums they've been hearing from the US for eight years. Obama will rebuild our friendships instead of looking for new enemies.
This is from the article, and I found it hillarious:
Quote:
Republicans chafed at the media attention Obama's campaign-season trip has drawn. Presidential rival John McCain went to a German restaurant in swing-state Ohio, and said he'd like to deliver a speech in Germany, but as president not candidate.
Who came up with that? McCain camapign strategy session:
"Ok, Obama is going to be speaking to 200,000 cheering Germans at the Victory Tower in Berlin. What are we going to do in response?"
"Well, I think maybe we might be able to book the Heidelberg Hoffbrau downtown. Maybe stand out front and whine about the attention Obama is getting?"
"Brilliant! Let's do it! How's the bratwurst there?"

yea someone mis-read a memo on that one . LOL
I wonder what type of response MaCain would receive from 1/4 million internationals.....
...A german resturant in Ohio not quite such a security risk ;)

It seems like a truly incompetent campaign move by McCain. Why go to a German restaurant in Ohio on the day your opponent is going to have a major event actually in Germany? They knew Obama's event would be huge, and the restaurant would just be lame, so why even invite the comparison by making it a German restaurant? No wonder even Republicans think McCain is running an incompetent campaign. John Stewart is going to have a laugh riot comparing these two events on the same day.
The Obama event went really well. I have hated watching the US abuse its allies and weaken its freindships for these past eight years. I'm looking forward to rebuilding some of that goodwill.

PRESIDENT Kennedy made historic speech in Germany in "63"; PRESIDENT Reagan did the same in "87"; A candidate/senator now thinks that he's done enough so far to do the same in "08"? Can anyone spell e-g-o-m-a-n-i-a-c?
And this political posturing was paid for by yours truly....the American tax payer; whether you support him or not!
Have a good one!:s4:

They won't like him so much when he realizes he wants them to pony up troops to go to Afghanistan.
But he should run for President of Germany, since he's so popular there!

That was an amazing speech he gave in Berlin today. McCain's Sausage Haus visit didn't have the same panache, did it?
The tax-payer supported presidential campaign fund didn't pay for that trip, however. You can confirm this with both campaigns and with the GAO if you like, as these expenses are a matter of open record. Obama has more money in his campaign coffers than you must realize. More every day, too. His private campaign money and donations paid for that trip, although people are loving to say otherwise to stir the pot. Secret Service protection, security and escorts, particularly in the Middle East, came out of taxpayer monies, as they have for McCain's similar trips overseas, which no one's had a problem with. No one has had a problem with the fact that during the Iraq war, 87 U.S. legislators and public officials have visited that part of the world on the taxpayer tab. But Obama's very wealthy campaign chest paid for his trip except for the security part of it. He has plenty left over where that came from!

Turns out it wasn't really even a German restaurant. It was just a Der Wienerschnitzel drive-thru in Dayton, Ohio. You could get a free Chili Dog for joining the Wiener Lover's Club. Or if you made a $100 campaign contribution, McCain would personally buy you the 3-for-$3 special --- your choice of Chili Dog, Corn Dog, or Original Mustard Dog. Fries and drink not included.
The other funny thing about this whole trip is that McCain kept saying Obama should go to Iraq and Afgahinstan. So he goes, and he visits these other countries as well, and it's been a great success, and now McCain is all grumpy about it! Ha ha! It was your idea McCain! Don't you remember?

Lots of jealousy at work about all the publicity. McCain's trips to the same places didn't garner the same level of attention, did they? He did indeed suggest the Obama trip, though. The other funny thing is the complaints about the support team that have been helping Obama book up on foreign policy and international relations. McCain has a similar team of experts in his camp, too, to help him buff up. He's no foreign policy wonk, either, as he has freely admitted. He's been working hard at polishing up those same skills with a team of his own tutors.
So did Dubya. Sadly in Dubya's case, he never learned a lick from one of them.
I'm about ready for some vice presidential announcements! I'm putting money on Bobby Jindal for McCain. He's young, smart and he can help carry the south. I don't know who it'll be for Obama. For a while I thought Hillary and for a while John Edwards. Now I don't know. The Texas Dems still want Hillary real bad. The Latino vote here loves her. (Sorry for the departure from thread topic here at the end.)
