Choosing a new light
Afternoon all, i have been reading up on led lighting and it seems interesting and i noticed they have the 'super power' 56w led on ebay for £60 and it claims to be as efficent as a 250w hps. As im not growing again till i move out my mums later this year i have plenty of time to get new equipment together so if i need to wait a bit for a more expensive sodium set then thats cool but i also read that the led runs at about a 10th of the price of the hps and i'm also thinking that in a 70x70x160cm grow tent i could easily have 2 of these due to their small size and low temps so that would technically (if the description is true) give me the power of a 500w hps. My previous grow was done with a 250w enviro and although i was pleased with the result the yeild was pretty low, about a half oz per plant so next time i'm looking for at least an oz. Which do u think would be better?

Choosing a new light
Does any1 have any thoughts on this matter? I would like to try running both lights in seperate rooms on the same strain to compare the difference but don't think i'd have space for 2 flower rooms and then theres the cost of 'lecy, exhaust fans etc.

Choosing a new light
Giro2007;
I am not familiar with that 56w LED, but I can tell you this;
no way does 56watts of LED equal 250watts of HPS. At least with what I know of technologies of today.
There's an agricultural/technical term for claims like that.....BullShit.
IMHO the Procyon100 could replace a 250watt HPS nicely.
and BTW it ain't a perfect LED grow light, but it is a WORKING LED grow light. Just ask the SnStealth crew.

Choosing a new light
I've been reading on SNSstealths led logs and they are fantastic, but sadly i don't think the procyon is available in the uk (plus it would cost around £300) what i may do is buy both hps and led and test out the led and if it blows major donkey dick then at least i will have tested it and can pass on this info to others to avoid making the same mistake and switch to hps. If i do get the led then i will certainly make a log so everyone can see the results.
