Hurray For Noobs like me!!!!!
We get our supplies ready for the process...
- 1 Razor preferably one that you won't cut yourself with.
- 1oz shot glass
- Cloning solution of your choice (although this isn't totally necessary I use it... I mean I have been really successful so why mess with a good thing right?)
- Sanitizer for hands and tools
- Sheers
Do you got the goodies? If so, lets clean up a bit no one wants a sick baby. Sanitize your hands and equipment right now...
Before we get all jumpy and shred our mommy like Edward Scissor Hands lets look closely at our plant to see which of the "branches" has what it takes to make the cut.
First find a "branch" around 4" long and has at least two nodes (nodes are the little shoots sticking out of the middle of the branch depicted in the first picture)...
Nice! Looks like she makes the cut so lets start the process
We have our equipment and our key player, time for the pre-game warm up!
-Mix up your solution read the directions follow them 100% (if you use a gel you may not have to do any mixing). Put your solution in the 1oz shot glass. If it mixes in a far greater amount than 1oz (such as olivia's what I'm using),keep the rest and put it in a spray bottle for later.
-Now lets soak our rockwool cube. in some water (you SHOULD balance the PH, but I never do it for cloning). PH is the level of acidity or alkalinity of the water go to your local hydro shop and pick up a PH tester. It should read 5.8-6.3.
NOTE: I forgot to tell you that you needed a rockwool cube in the supplies part... my bad. I would fix it but the forum doesn't allow me to change any of that...
-OK here we go we have to make the cut now... (1st cut) Taking the razor cut the "branch" at a 45 degree angle to reveal the most of the stem. (2nd cut) a straight vertical cut. this is so the mother may heal quicker.
-Place the cutting in your solution immediately. We don't want the stem to get an "air bubble" up the hollow center on the stem.
-After leaving in the rooting hormone for the suggested time (located on the solution you bought, i do for a few minutes) it's time to plant in the rockwool.
-Make sure there is a hole in the rockwool. Now place the stem in it (not too hard you don't want the stem to snap..) firmly enough for it to be secure.
That was the hardest part haha!
-Take your pruning sheers and cut the big fan leaves 1/4 of the way down to promote root growth.
-Now get a cover to keep your cutting humid... Spray a few times a day keeping the leaves moist.
-Place cutting and cover under an nice little CFL (Compact Flourecent Light) and within 10-14 days you'll have roots!!!! W00t!!!
