Help me plan my first grow ;-)

Greetings all. Longtime member, I just seldom post.

Anyways, I have finally a suitable area to begin growing. We are starting fairly small.

I have been reading a ton of information and spending hours on youtube and other websites.....

We have two closets to work with. Here are approx measures:
Each is 6 ft. long, 2.25 ft. wide, and about 10 ft. high

We are trying our best to keep it on a tight budget, not looking to spend more than $4-500 on both closets.

-------Questions-------

-Good strains for novice growers? Expected yield per plant?
(we are hoping for 1-2 Lb, considering we have space for about 10 plants...or am I wee-tahded?? :))

-Closet ventilation? We were considering making a box / cupboard type of area and drilling circular holes for the fans to blow air in. do we need outward ventilation?

-Smell elimination? The room where the closets are is secluded from the rest of the house, but its a fairly small house overall. Plus we have neighbors on the other side of the walls. We were considering just buying a bunch of those time realease air fresheners @ wallmart and incense / candles / wall units. but this may not be enough for ten plants.

-multiple level construction? I have read that you can create more that one area / lighting system within a box in order to seperate new plants and those that are in the flowering stage.



Sorry if any of these are silly questions but we are new to this. Im reading tons of info and learning everything possible.

We have about 2.5 weeks till we start construction.

i know a few of the questions were pretty dumb.


Basically we are looking to yield about 4 LB from a total of 6-10 plants. Whatever is necc. to hit 4 LB.

As for ventilation, everything seems pretty complicated. A simple explanation would be great.

Well I would use high output flouresecents, or one or two low watt high pressure sodiums two cut costs if your on a budget. for only a few hundred you could get pre made hydro kits (hydro farm works well) or make your own for cheaper but it is more likely that a homemade kit will leak or cause other problems. for reflection, black mylar is very cost effective. for cheap nutes look for a 10-10-10 miracle grow (or whatever brand u like) for vegging, 10-15-10 for budding. if u are buying seeds for this, i reccomend a sativa dominant. it yields less but is better for closet growing. hope some of this is helpful.

4LBS? Man you are going to need good exhaust maybe w/o Inatake's because that means you will need to be running 1000's. Otherwise you will not come close your goals of 4Lbs. They can not VEG to long due to height issues. Max Veg is Prob one and a half months.

How close are the closets maybe you will need doubles on quite a few items? Do you have any equip or you have to purchase everything?

Well let's try to get a list going we will post up the big shit first

1. Light's $350-$700 1000 HPS Chains, Hooks ect... You will not get Yield W/O 1000's W/ a closet you may want to reconsider the potential yield... Due to Lighting and keeping it cool
2. Charcoal Can 4' W/Fan $350+ @ best Prob close to $500 Otherwise your house will smell like a french whore house with all those sprays you are thinking of using...
3 AC units or possible alternatives $250+++

You have to keep the closets cool and with the lamps on they get really really hot...
Price- If you have a really cool room were the closets are you can just run a exhaust and pull all the cool air into the closet. The downside is your blowing it right out. The good thing is the smell (CHARCOAL CAN MAY BE UNNECESSARY) is going right out also with out a intake$$. My friend has ran his room that way for 8+Yrs. Temp is going to have to be monitored closets are tough especially if you want to leave the doors completely shut...

Well that should be the biggest of expenses..

4. Mylar $60
5. Oscillating Fans $30 Each
6. Nutrients $140-$400 + LOL
7. Medium $35-100+
8. Pots $20
9. Rez $17-100+ If you do not want to be carrying water through out house everyday.
10. Timers $20-$300+

That is 10 things that came to mind and is a good list to start working on... There is Prob 10 little BS things you will also need. So just keep that in mind when your pricing out the job....

Right now we are thinking about using lowrider #2 for space efficency and speed. Ideally, We think we can fit 10 on each level. We will Veg them in closet #2.

Can you allow lowrider to veg a little longer? I have read that flowering begins almost immediatly. We have reconsidered our yield goals. We hope for a yield of about 20 zips, one for each lowrider plant. We are still considering other strains.

We will be purchasing everything. We are trying to work within a 5-600 budget, including seeds. We MAY VEG and FLOWER in the same closet to save $ on lights. It will hurt efficiency because we can't veg new plants while others flower but thats ok.

We keep our AC @ around 70-72 normally and it is a very cool room. We have been considering many ventilation systems, but we will likely keep the closets half open.

Unfort. this is out of our budget. OPur main concearn is neighbors smelling it...but we are not worried if the smell is confined to our place. We may bug a single air filter type fan.

Thanks Pal you guys could do it on a tight budget just remeber you get what you put into it. I have over $1000.00 just in NUTES I fuck with but I'm crazy when I see that shit I don't stop.. LOL:jointsmile::jointsmile::jointsmile:
