amount of light per plant
i'm running a homemade cfl hood with 8 23w bulbs, it's about 22" long by 13" wide, i have four plants under this light right now. the question is this: does the amount of plants under a light effect the amount of light each plant receives, for instance, if i get rid of 2 of the plants and leave 2 under my hood, will they each grow better than if i just leave all 4? would it be worth it to get rid of half of the potential end yield in exchange for a possible much higher yield per plant? all four plants will almost fit immediately under the hood of the light in their current pots, but i'm getting ready to transplant into larger pots and when i do they will probably only be able to fit about 1/3 of each plant directly under the lights. also, what about just one plant under the same setup.... would it grow even better? possibly producing more than all four plants combined under the same light? this is the question...
amount of light per plant
I just know 5000 lumens per plant is good. 2000 is barely enough
but I mean you gotta also think about where the light is getting to, gotta calculate it all out...
someone will be along shortly to help you :P
amount of light per plant
ive seen a single plant take up a whole 1000watter grew like a fucking tree
amount of light per plant
well in my current set up i have around 3200 lumens per plant if i keep all four, if i thin the herd down to two, 6400 per plant. i guess either would be sufficient.

That is interesting, it is hard to imagine plants actually sucking light out of the air, competing with each other.
But my guess agrees with the law of physics that says energy can neither be created nor destroyed...
Thus, you will get better yield per plant with less plants under the lights. However, this doesn't mean total yield will be less, as SOG method are popular and nifty. Less plants also means more chance of males though.
All 4 should be fine while in veg under eight 23 watters. In flower, you may want to swap half of the bulbs with 42watters (the next size up from 23 if you buy at a common store)

I didn't exactly phrase part of that correctly.
Regarding # of plants, I should have said having more plants (such as in a SOG) definitely gauruntees you at least a few females, while if you only have 2 or 3 plants, there is a chance you might not get any smoke.
