EZ Clone Issues

I aquired a brand new ez clone 30 from a friend of mine who shut down. This unit was still sealed in the box. So i did a test run. I took 5 cuttings, cut a 45, and dipped in clonex gel. Placed them in the machine. The plants actually have a new set of leaves but no roots. Its been 10 days. My rapid rooter clones in my dome are already done. I also sprayed them Vita Grow anti wilt.

After doing some reading i found that they are shipped with some type of coating on them and it requires a 24 hour bleach solution to be ran. I am doing that now.

My question is mainly, Is thier anything i can do besides the clean to ensure successs. My mother plant is going to need some veg time soon so i only have like 10 cuttings to take this time and dont want to lose them. My table would be very empty:(.

I have heard of also scoring the clone. Just enough to open up the outer layer of the stem. Is this needed in the ez cloner?

If the plant is growing it should root. The cloners are good systems. Be sure you are cutting the plant in the right spot too. Google it if you have too. Keep it up you will get it, it's like it's name says. Good Luck!

hey dude, check out my imaginary garden (link in my sig), go to post #34 and check out my DIY ez cloner.
it's actually not as sophisticated, just a reservoir and a couple of air stones.
since i made it, i've been getting nearly 100% success and within 6 - 8 days.
my reservoir is 2 gallons of water with approx. 5 - 6ml of ThriveAlive B1 Red and 2 drops of Superthrive.
the ThriveAlive is made by Technaflora but i'm sure any competitors B1 procuct would work.
the Superthrive is very expensive and very powerful, it cost me $60.95 for a quart at the hydro store. ignore all the bullshit on the bottle, it's only good for stimulating root growth, which is what you need.
be very careful, only 1 drop per gallon, otherwise you'll burn the shit outa them
another thing to consider is reservoir temp. you want it kinda warm, 70 degrees or a little more even, that'll help promote root development as well.

Rinsed everything, fresh water, 6.2 ph and 75 temp. Pump is on 24 hours. Not seeing anything, these have been in there 4 days and nothing. The stem is turning a slight brownish redish color. I think im going back to rapid rooters and dixie cups

4 days is not too long to wait, lol
it takes about 6 - 8 days, by then you should see definate roots
do the cuttings look otherwise healthy? no wilting?
are they getting wet underneath?
if so then just relax and give them a few more days, and i get that brownish discoloration also, don't worry, i get like 98% rooted clones

that's called scarification, think scraping the paint off the bottom inch of a pencil, obviously you should be more gentle with your cuttings than a pencil, just lightly scrape the stem, and go around the stem, you don't want to be manic about it, just enough so the water penetrates the stem easily
and i don't know if it's needed exactly, i just know i do it and it seems to help
