I want to add glass to my hood but I'm worried it will cut down on how affective my light is. Does any body have an input on the affect the glass has on the lights penetrating ability?

as far as i know glass absorbs light but then again i could be wrong.
Light intensity will be diminished somewhat, but the question is whats making you consider it? If your having heat problems the advantage of keeping your grow area/canopy in the right temperature range would more then make up for the lost light intensity. Also, with the glass you'll be able to put your lights a little closer to your plants. I think either way it would be worth it.
thats why I'm doing it more control over the heat and I can get the tops closer to the light thanks for the input
Your benefits in controlling heat will far outweigh the relatively insignificant drop in lumens.
thanks Stinky thats all i wanted to know
If the hood has glass on it to it can also be a great safety feature if the bulb breaks. Hot glass on a dry plant is scary.
