Question for you seasoned growers... AKA Stinky & Co.

So, as I was watching the Discovery Science chanel as one does, when a special on this brazilian type of soil called Terra Preta (Black Soil). Being brazilian and having this interest in new grow mediums (obvious... :smokebong:) Well... Apparently this medium "grows", due to a combination of fungus and bacteria, and is apparently one of the most fertile soils in the world.

Excavation concludes a whole civilization, as big as the Mayan and Aztecs with pottery and artwork rivalling those cultures all around the Amazon margins, where land is known to be infertile.

In a quick read through of the wiki page i gathered that the porosity that makes it such a great retainer of nutrient would also make it a great retainer of water.

and yes it is a soil.

I'm figuring that it might be good amendment in a dry area with sandy quick draining soil to hold moisture for the root system when the rest of the sandy soil dries out. Might be too good at holding moisture to plant in exclusively.
