Can I prune a 2wk old seedling without damage
I have just started LST on a three of my plants, just experimenting with different types of grows. They are 2 week old seedlings on their 4th set of leaves with 5th set just now showing. Last night I tied them over and am considering pruning some of the large bottom leaves that are hanging in the dirt.
Will pruning this early cause problems? If not, are there any guidelines I should adhere to?
I have not topped or fimmed yet but am planning to.
Thanks for your responses. ;)

just out of curiosity...why do you want to prune them?

I have a couple of leaves that, due to bending the plant over, are now in the dirt. They are not really hurting anything, just annoying and I would like to get rid of them if it is not going to harm the plant.

Eventually, those leaves will yellow and fall off on their own. I wouldn't cut them off unless you absolutely had to, which I can't think of any reason (other than aesthetics) that you would. Just my opinion.
Take care.

Leave 'em, they will turn up in a day or so. Trust me.
Peace

Thank you, Clandestine and Lit Up.
It is just aesthetics and my obsession with over loving them.

i would let the plant grow naturally if all possible until it shows sex and perferabily under good environmental conditions. when doing this helps insure greater sucess in growing female plants from seeds

Your plant will eventually lose those leaves probably anyway regardless if it was in soil or not. Might as well let your baby use up the energy stored in those leaves to help her grow big and strong

The leaves will turn to the light as another poster mentioned.
The 5th node is the earliest that it is okay to pinch the growing tip if you want more side branching. It depends upon your goal for the plant. Do you want a BUSH or a TREE? Bush= pinch now. Tree= no pinch.

Thanks, all. I am leaving them, at least until any yellowing starts. Definitely going for bushes. Fifth nodes are sprouting on most plants now. Really scared about topping, pinching, fimming. I will probably start a new thread soliciting suggestions/directions this evening.
Thanks again! ;)
