Can the Marijuana stance change with a Democrat for pres?
More specifically, Obama. I'm 21 and this is my first year that im really getting into politics and learning whats what. If Obama wins the general election will that do anything as far as more states, like mine, NY, having a chance of legalizing medical marijuana. i'm waiting for the day i can go to my doctor and get a med card to grow my own but i have a feeling ill be waiting a long time. if not, what will change, if anything, as far as marijuana goes with a Democrat for president?

Nobody is going to do anything about it.

yep.
i'm no expert, but it seems like the best approach is from the ground up rather then from the top down. Med use, seems to be moving toward being an issue for the States to decide, and this is a good thing. i think. :stoned: our federal officials need to learn the concept of federalism, (or States rights) as ascribed by Thomas Jefferson.

Man fuck medical dude. We need it to be completely legalized. I mean adderall is medically legal but does that mean everyone has access to it? Not that I don't think it would reap any benefits for medical patients but still. Legalizing it for medicinal purposes will help the patients....but what about people like me who don't necessarily need it but wants it? By doing this it will benefit everyone.

There's just as much of a chance for Obama to support it as McCain. Literal translation - there's practically no hope that we'll see initiatives from either of them should they make it into office. Best thing to do, in my opinion, is to keep championing for individualized state rights. Once all the state governments (or at least most of them) have allowed MMJ, or at least decriminalized possession, then I think we have a far better chance of seeing the federal government easing up on it.
As an aside, the stance of legalization shouldn't be carry much weight when deciding which political candidate can best run this country. There are other and much more important issues to take into consideration.
Take care.

Until the government can figure out a way to bleed huge amounts of $$ out of legal MJ I don't see this happening..
(I still dream about that day though)

I beg to differ....popular opinion is perhaps the most powerful force within a nation. If it wasn't for popular opinion France would not be what it is today. You're right that the Fed's are gonna try and milk as much money as they can from this stupid prohibition but I definitely can see within our life time pot being legalized. Once the newer generations begin to assimilate into the government is when we will start seeing change. Also its popular opinion that still needs to increase before it ever becomes legalized. Fed's love money but they have nothing if they're not praised by their own people. It's pretty big now but it's not huge enough to actually change it. My prediction is within the next few years we will see more and more states decriminalizing it and once all the states begin to ease up on it thats when the Federal government will begin to ease up as well first declaring a nation wide decriminalization and then complete legalization. Of course by the time it gets to that the newer generation will have come in as well as the popular opinion will have risen substantially.
