I give up trying to figure this out by myself...

are you using soil or hydro? soil
what ph is your soil or hydro setup? high atm, 7.2, accidently watered without ph adjusted water, minor flush immediately with ph adjusted water
if your using soil what mixture or brand is it? hydrponix soil mix
what water temps if you are growing hydro?
what are your ppms or EC?
what nutes are you using how much and how often? Was using fertilome bloom and root, at half strength, 2 waterings on, one off.
what part of the plant is affected? Top to bottom, mostly fan leaves
what size pots are these plants in and how big are they if growing in soil? 5 gal
seeds or clones? seeds
Strain? Jock horror
lighting and wattage and distance from the plants? 400 watt hps, 1 ft
temps/humidity? highs of 80, lows of 69 humidity pretty constant around 45%
how often are you watering? Whenever theyre dry

what ive got growing; 8 week into flowering jock horror. typical harvest week is 12, but i dont think theyll last another month.

Ok, so i just watered yesterday with plain water and molasses, unsulfured. today, when I got home, i noticed I have some pretty marked yellowing.. or more like bronzing on some leaves. The leaves are also brittle, and not flexible like a happy, healthy leaf. the edges of the leaves are still fairly green, but they are raised and perked like they need MG. The tips on almost all leaves are yellow/brunt, and curved slightly up.

What's confusing me is the veins seem to be turning yellow first. I have several leaves that still have green in between the veins, but have very yellow (or on some leaves, markedly red) veins. The stems on all the fan leaves are red/purple, and there are red/purple streaks running up the main stem.

I dont believe this problem has really anything to do with the molasses, im pretty sure theyve been yellowing for a few days. But because ive been busy, and b/c the hps can throw the eyes off so much, i dont think i noticed.

I also apologize for my crappy caps, my shift key doesn't seem to want to work consistantly. :) my camera doesnt really like the lighting in the room, so the flash kind of floods the colors out, but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Looks more like ph lockout than the 19 defs it appears to be. I would consider flushing with a LOT of ph correct water......and lay off all nutes and additives (read: no more molassas) until we can get them straightened out.

I really do not like the sound of the words "brittle" when talking about leaves and so was not at ALL amused to hear you use it......a brittle leaf certainly sounds like a sick leaf even if you didn't have all the tips pointing up. (I'm thinking thats some nuteburn/molassas/ph thingie happening there)

As an afterthought....are they in a large enough container? Can't really tell from photos.

I'm in no way a soil pro but I really think a good flush would be first in order.

There's evidence of heat stress there among other things.
I'd flush at 6.7, feed immediately with your bloom fert mixed 1/2 strength, foliar feed ONCE ONLY, with a micronutrient supplement that contains a little N, such as GH micro, mixed at 1/4 strength (you have N and micros def too early for a plant that is supposed to go another month), then let the plant get rather dry and pot-up into a larger container if the plant is more than 3 feet tall. If you don't pot up, at least check that the 5 gallon pots have enough drainage in them, and go back to feeding your primary bloom fert at the recommended dosage. Lay off the supplements for now.
Also raise your light to about 2 feet until that leaf curl stops and check that your ventilation is good.

The plants are hot -n- hungry for N, what more can I say. :(

also, make sure you're not over-watering, and not letting soil dry between waterings ... you say you are in 8th week of flowering, if so, yellowing and dying leaves are to be expected ... :jointsmile:

I already know im going back to my old soil (if I can find it here) on the next grow. The stuff I have now is rather barky, and really doesnt retain water, instead it runs *straight* through. I still only water whenever the plant literally starts to have that wilty look, and by the lift the pot method.

and yeah, the leaves are def brittle, im not happy about it either. if you touch one and bend it in half, it will snap and cause a crack, which is seriously lame. i think a lot of it is to do with the ph problems (My tap water here is a staggering 10.5, so there is a lot of adjusting before it hits the plants) and like i said, im not always brilliant about remebering to adjust it.

The girls are def taller than 3 feet (w/o the bends) but I dont really have any containers larger than 5 gal. The venation as far as i can tell is fairly good, i just installed 2 more fans (as it has become warmer here in the last month :) ) and temps have not gone above 82 at the canopy.


BTW weedhound, I loved your first sentence :) Cuz thats what ive been dealing with, and couldnt figure out which of the 20 def it is :)

Oh and image, id usually agree but this is a 12 week strain, and only a few pistols have turned amber and it seems 80% of the trichs are still clear. So its still got a ways. :)

10.5? :eek: Can that seriously be called "water?" How about lye solution with a bit of water mixed in?

Haha! I know right? I never even checked ph before, i guess my old water was just 'good' cuz i never really had problems like this. :) So this entire grow has been a learning experience. I call it, Ph and you: Fun with Pot. :)
