EASY 'no-touch' seed germination ...
here's a successful project, well worth the time and low-costs involved  ... for years, i just stuck dry seeds into soil and waited ... then, like most growers, I got into the whole 'wet papertowel' techniques ... noticing that Mike of Mandala Seeds, stresses germinating DRY seeds, I gave it a shot this time ... admittedly, I use rapidrooter plugs in a simple bubbler, not papertowels, anymore ... regardless, placing DRY seeds into the plugs, instead of my usual pre-soaking, resulted in seedlings above the surface in just under 4 days, instead of my usual 8-9 ... AND, no more pythium wilt risks (I killed lots of seedlings, with my typical over-watering :wtf:) ... I would estimate my clone/seed successes around 95% ... if you haven't built a simple bubble-cloner/seed starter, I suggest you do so immediately

very good idea! i will have to make one of these. i have seeds sprouting as we speak and in the desert it is hard to keep the soil moist.

I can't take full credit, as 'Opie Yutts' posted a 'how-to' on these bubblers a couple years ago ... but, they work fabulously with those RapidRooter plugs

I don't see the link anymore, was a couple years ago ... it's extremely simple, really ... check my pics above to see what I mean ... I bought two Rubbermaid tubs at WalMart ... that way, I not only had a clear humidity dome, from the extra bottom, but it also gave me an extra lid, to cover screw-ups, or even make an alternate lid configuration (dozen small holes in one, for cloning/seed starting, OR a couple large ones for vegging pots, if you so choose) ... the clear plastic bottom must be sprayed with black paint (Krylon 'Fusion' spray can works well), or covered with tape, etc, to keep light away from your solution (algae) ... then a couple long airstones, the 'curtain type', and a decent-sized air pump ... mine holds about 1.5 gallon of solution, (just pour in enough water to sit a couple inches or more under the bottom of the rapidrooters, enough to keep them damp, but not submerged) ... expenses: tub runs $3-$5, two 'aircurtains' set ya back about $15-$20, and a larger dual-outlet airpump another $15-$20 ... you will need a small aquarium heater, a 10gal. model is about $15, and is very necessary ... paint, $5, and a hole saw (if ya dont already have one) is another $8-$10, in WalMart Tools section ... get one anyway, they really come in handy, from drilling out Harley baffles, to making bubble-cloners :D ... Total setback will be in neighborhood of $75 ... remember, you don't have to build one just like mine ... mine just 'grew' that way after a few prior models ... you could simply use one airstone, smaller airpump and heater, smaller tub, etc., and may already have access to a hole saw ... that would cut your costs considerably ... Treetops does basically the same thing, running his entire grows in Folger's cans ... goes to show, you don't have to spend much money at all

Hey Reaper,
Liked your idea...so I had to make one to go along with my system...I can go right to a Folgers can from this setup...Your inspiration made my day...
Trying that hi silica growing medium...
Thanks,
Peace,
Treetops

thought it might be a good idea to bump this ... I see new growers looking for germination help :) ...
Update: I just went to WalMart yesterday, to get the necessary parts to build one for a friend ... cost about $50, for 2 tubs, 2 airstones, heater, paint, airhose, dual-outlet airpump ...
