just got the paper recommendation. what else do i need.
i just got a recommendation from the doctor with a photocopy of my drivers license on it. i was thinking of going to the santa cruz patients collective to pick something up. do i need anything else?
someone was saying something about a card, but i thought that was just for certain coops and cities.
any help appreciated.

You should be ok with that recommendation but you will need to register with the state and get an ID card that you put in your wallet. Do this as soon as possible because even tho the paper is legal the card is just that much more safety. The card will have a registered number assigned to it so that it will be easy to check in on you should the problem arise if you know what I mean!

i would suggest keeping the recommendation with the id on it on you at all times. while the card may work in some instances, the original recommendation signed by a licensed physician is the real document that qualifies you as a medical cannabis patient.
other than that, just make sure your physicians office is available for verification during your first visit to a coop. a recommendation is no good if it can't be verified ;)

Hey just some food for thought.
The Federal Government is using state records, i.e. records from the BOE, as evidence against an owner of a collective that they are prosecuting now. They simply went and got them from the state. It's going to be some evidence to show how much cannabis was sold, and how large the "criminal enterprise" was. LMFAO!! (What criminal enterprises pay taxes?)
The state id, is not needed, and you should use your own judgement. I would put forward to you, read the actual text of prop 215 and sb420.
But if you want the state to have you on a rolodex for the DEA then by all means! I am not saying that is the intent, or that would happen, but it is by far within the realm of possiblity, and in fact, the DEA has already done this with other state regulatory bodies, as I said earlier, The Board of Equalization.
So no, you don't need anything else. As was suggested, keep the original on you.

I am sorry I could not disagree more, but please I am still learning too. Tell me why anyone would ever need to get anything in addition to the original doctors recomendation, I am all ears.

What 8182KSKUSH said is spot on and sound advice. The card is optional and no club requires it. As long as you aren't stupid while driving with your medicine, you should never have any problems with cops.
You only need 2 things to go to a co-op, you're original doctors recommendation, and your regular ID. You might want to call ahead and get pre-verified, this should save you some time, but not all clubs do this, (I don't know why).
For a list of co-ops, make sure to visit www.CANORML.org, and click on "Patients' Groups"

i hurd once you get your recommendation you do not need to register to get the ID card?
i also hurd that the ID card limits you to the county you live in or registered in and that a recommendation is good all threw out ca.
please informe me if i am wrong this is just the word i hurd.
also if anyone has info on having a recommendation and living in a apartment.
i live in an apartment and management has spoken with me 2 times now that the cops have been out on marijuana calls. i think it may be BS do to the cops have never spoken to me or came to my door yet.
thanks

thats it,all u need is your paper.it clearly states in s.b 420 that as a patient u do not need a medical marijuana identification card all u need is a written documentaion.hoewever it is a good idea, most cops/clubs want to see both"wich is stupid"im in the same boat.i got a rec from a new doctor this year and still have not had the time to drive down to another city to get my stupid picture taken.any ways if your in c.a your fine with just the paper.

How does this work for a minor? My doctor has recommended it for my son that is 16. He has autism and has intermittent explosive disorder and has injured a number of people including himself. Is this legal for a minor and can I grow it and how much?
