Just picked up this cabinet and installed a 25 watt CFL for future clippings.
Is this going to be too intense for them? Thanks everyone.

Not too intense. Should be fine. If you are feeling sassy, look for a CFL called an Ott Light. That's the bomb when it comes to cloning!
I like that you have a completely enclosed clone area that won't be susceptible to drafts and temp swings, and you'll be able to spray down the whole interior with disinfectant.
In the future, you will even be able to install a 2nd shelf to double the clone capacity.
Thanks Stinky! I was worried that the bulb might be too close...I've never heard of an Ott Light, can they be bought at any retail store? Wal Mart?
Oh, and the cabinet came with 2 shelves - Im sure they'll be used a little further down the road.
You can keep a couple bonsai mothers in there with the space you have, but sometimes it's best just to have a place away from soil (=possibility of mold spores etc) for the cuttings.
I got a couple Ott Lights from home dePOT but my buddy who manages the lighting dept says they were discontinued so I have no clue where to get them. lol! Oh well. The point is that they are VERY blue and vegging plants adore them.
You can be even closer with your bulb, but then you would want a pretty small bulb. Cuttings need some, but not much, light. It's not exact. They will find a way to tell you if they are unhappy hahaha!
Right on...Bonsai mother? You mean an actual Bonsai or a small mother...?
a mother plant made small.
