i am cutting clones and notice that if i put them under indirect flo light they thrive, my buddy says to put them under the hps,but as soon as i do they wilt and look like death. the temps are the same in the two areas and the hps has a nice 18" fan blowing everything.
i am just wondering if it is the light intensity that is doing this or is there some other factor im am not aware of.

clones do not need the intense power of an HID. you are correct in putting them under floro, but you already knew that since the clones you took were thriving.

Your buddy is wrong. Clones like light that is BLUE, and WEAK. My personal favorite light for cloning is called an Ott Light- it's a very very blue CFL. You just need one, in a clip light, maybe a foot or so from the clones. But lately I just leave them in the corner of a room that has a Hortilux MH daylight going. The indirect light is very nice.
For you, do what you have seen working.

t y stinky,
let me correct what he said, hehheeh
i should have both spectrums, together instead of seperated.
but i have different light cycles for the different lights.
the reason i asked was you said in your post on clones after they root if growing out doors give them a couple of days before putting in direct sunlight. i was speculating the intensity was to much and they had to get used to the direct sunlight.so goes to follow the lights intensity is totally different between the flo and the hps.
