First indoor grow ever! (fluro)

This is my first ever indoor grow using fluros, i have 75w equivalent
grow tubes, one 100w equivalent warm, one 50w equivalent warm, and one 100w equivalent soft white. my baby is about 6 weeks in, using LST (one tie made so far). seems to be growing kind of slow to me. most likley my lighting and my soil choice. My next grow i plan on doing things a whole lot differently. This is my educational grow. I have a 250w hps on the way. I have a very small grow space as you can see so i have alot of restrictions. I am not growing for the ultimate, or to provide, just to grow myself a tasty little treat. lol.. any feedback, advice would be very very much appreciated. (I made big changes to my ventilation and intake setup tonight, there is now a fan to draw heat from lamps.. not in these pics. practice for when the hps comes due to my small space.)

ALSO! i forgot one MAJOR factor haha, way high. my baby suffered from a magnesium deficiency i believe.about half her leaves turned nasty yellow and died, had to cut them off... about all her main fan leaves were cut... so shes probably less than half the size she should be :( shes recovered now though and doing much better!

They look pretty good to have been your 1st ever!:thumbsup: I would think that the yellowing of the leaves while in veg,would be due to lack on nitrogen.What fert. are you using?Magnesium def. usually has purple in the stem of the larger fan leaves.It can be seen in the stems and stalk as well...Make sure you vent the hood! I see your temps are reaching 90 degrees,with flo's... Just something to think about,Dawg! Your gonna do fine as long as you keep that HPS high enough,so not to have them smoke themselves.....VENTILATION is key!

Thanks for the reply, they are doing better than i thought for my first indoor. ive had some success with outdoor in the past. now i live in an apartment.. lol anyways, friends of mine who also grow have come over to check it out, and all told me probably a mag deficiency, you should have seen it 2 weeks ago. As for the heat issue.. It has been getting extremely hot in there with my fluros even... due to insufficient ventilation..i now have two fans at the top, one big one pushing, a smaller one pulling... then inside i have a fan blowing across the lights and directly on the other side is a exhaust fan pulling all the hot air out and sending it outside. Also i use foxfarm grow big, i also put a couple drops of superthrive into my water resivour everytime. my poor choice of soil is most likley the cause im thinking. next time i will be looking more in too good soil formulas, or even a small hydro setup, i helped a friend with his mini hydro, and hes doing great! ofcourse he also has a 400w hps ;p... anyways! will update pics when i can.

Just a couple of things to think about:

For starters, looks like not enough soil in pot. A lower soil level creates stagnancy, and the surface roots need circulated/fresh air. Can carefully remove plant, add soil to bottom, replace plant. (leaving about 1/2 inch space for future waterings)

Am no expert, but are the fluoro tubes the right color for veg?

The heat issue will increase with the HID, so your attempts to lower temps are a great practice.
Usually best to have an exhaust fan or two, and a circulation fan. Not usually necessary to have an intake fan, unless it's used to bring-in cooler air from ground-level.

Soil looks quite dry, also. Do you have them on a schedule, or just water them whenever you notice? You mentioned water reservoir...? How often do you water with the ferts and micronutes? Perhaps too much superthrive? Do you foliar spray with additional nutes, or corrective suppliments?

What's the water ph?...The run-off ph? Do you adjust water ph, and if so...with what? Using tap water? R/O water? If using R/O water, do you suppliment with CalMag Plus, or equivalent?

Did you plant the seeds during a full moon on the vernal equinox, while holding a lit stick of Nag Champa...? (kidding)

Besides not knowing much more about the grow, these are the generic things I'd look at.
