Oy vey! Nutrient burn?

This is my third hydro grow, and so far it's been a bit problematic. Some background...these are two feminized 'Oasis' plants, and I've been upping nutes over the past few days (using ec meter to measure levels). Yesterday I bumped it up to .9 from .7, and this morning I found one plant all shrivelled up and the other one, while looking OK, with yellow spotting on the leaves. I threw two litres of fresh water in there, adjusted PH, and brought nute levels down to .7. Should I simply wait and hope for the best at this point?

It DOES look like a pretty good case of nuteburn...I'd drop your ec even lower for awhile.....like to about .5 at the most for a few days and see how (or if....) they bounce back.

Keep a close eye on your ph.....it usually rises like mad during nuteburn and causes its own problems.

OK, I'll drop the EC even lower...will post new pix in a couple of days if they perk up. And am definitely keeping an eye out on the ph, though all looks well on that end. Thanks for the advice.

That is not nute burn, that starts with the leaf tips. I would be more inclined to look at the PH levels which should be around 5.8 - 6.2 for hydro.

Thanks for suggesting the ph...all I can say is that my ph levels have read 5.8 - 6.0 max for the last two weeks consistently, which is why I thought it was nuteburn...just noticed that some roots actually made it into the NFT reservoir...while this happened last time I had a (happily trouble-free, wildly successful) micro-grow, it didn't happen until they were way into flowering mode...any thoughts on roots in the tanks?

I thought that was the ph level for soilless mediums. I thought Hydro was like 5.3-5.8.

Can anyone clarify just for my own personal arsenal of knowledge I'm trying to acrew? :thumbsup:

I keep my ph between 5.5-6.2 for hydro Dai.

PS.....jash keep doing what you are doing. Do they look the same, better, or worse today?

Usually in nuteburn your plants grow SUPER well which may explain the large amount of roots.....and then somewhere you cross the line and add too much and so POOF.

Do the roots look healthy and what are the rest of your specs?

Hey Weedhound...yes, the roots look healthy...and, having lowered the nutes down to .5 per your recommendation, I'm happy to say that just 8 hours later I can already detect slight improvement...so, I'm going to keep ph around 5.8 or so, and keep nutes to .5 for three days, and then ease them much more slowly up again...though i was planning on flowering in three days...do you think i should wait, like, 5 more days before kicking them in to flower so they have some time to recover? (when vegging i put them under 24 hours of light)

Check this chart out, I usually run my ph 5.85 in veg...6.0-6.3 in flower..but to each their own....I like my results with those numbers...Hydro on the left side, soil on the right..

Jash, I would wait if I were you.....you will want a couple of days to see exactly what the after effects will/won't be before you turn them.
