Riots in Tibet (The Official Current Events FREE TIBET thread)

Anyone watching this on the news? It is really fucking sad to see this happen to such a race of peaceful spiritual people. 80 deaths have been reported and I saw footage on TV of some Tibetan people attacking a man in the street simply for being Chinese.

The Dalai Lama has apperently said in response to all the violence that he will stand down as leader of the Tibetan government in exile if it continues.

Mr Wen is accusing the Tibetans of trying to sabotage the olympics, well ... I think that is probably to do with that fact they are sabotaging their entire fucking country!

GET OUT CHINA, FUCK OFF! LEAVE THEM BE.

China itself is sabotaging their own Olympics, not the Buddhist monks. Welcome to China's 21st century Tienanmen square :mad:

I personally will be locking out whatever TV channels are showing the Olympics this summer. Hopefully many nations will not attend in protest to China's actions in Tibet.

I've been paying close attention to these events, and I'm getting sick of China acting so hateful towards the Dalai Lama, and Tibet in general. I have a lot of respect for His Holiness, and find it outrageous that the Chinese government is accusing him of inciting these riots. He's one of the most peaceful men on this planet, for gods sake.

The Chinese government is one of the most powerful governments in the world, yet they're often not held accountable for their actions... even if their actions risk the lives of people outside China. Antibiotics, blood thinners, lead paint in CHILDREN'S TOYS?? Come on, their negligence has gone far enough... :mad:

I'm disgusted that they even were chosen to hold the Olympics period, Personally.

With their history of human rights abuses (including ongoing ones) I can think of few WORSE hosts for the Olympics, which are meant to celebrate the athletic achievements of people from all cultures... it's an insult to the spirit of the Olympics themselves.

The rest of the Tibetan people in those days might have lived in some poverty and squalor, but I'd guess that they were probably happy with what they had though, probably a yak and mug of butter tea if they were lucky. I dunno...

Pulling out eyeballs? I seem to remember them mentioning that briefly, ... I'm afraid I don't buy that one.

Saying that though, I have read that some zen buddhist masters used to beat their students since it was believed to induce some form of spiritual attainment.
