Noob needs some light help

I just got the idea to start growing about a week ago and I know a decent amount of information to get me started but there are some unresolved questions I need answered still.

I'm going to be growing in a 2' x 4' x 5' closet space. One of my questions is, What lighting would be best for my closet dimensions? I have 2 63w Fluorescent lights as my setup right now. I was wondering if that would be alright. And if so, would it be enough to grow throughout the entire process of growing or would I need to upgrade to something like a 250-400w HPS or MH system? My last question is, how many plants would be good for my setup? I was thinking of growing only one or two plants but I haven't decided yet.

Lighting is my main concern as I have almost everything else down. Sorry for sounding like such a noob and thanks for any help :]
