Artisin's New Grow Room - Ww & Bb
This is my first post to this forum, so hi to everyone! I am a former member of a large and informative forum, but it didn't seem to have the same feel and taste as this one. It seemed like too many people were competing rather than helping one another w/ a little constructive criticism. StinkyAttic summed it up pretty well: "come on guys, SAME FUCKING TEAM!!!" Sometimes we have to realize that our petty differences are small time in the grand scheme of things. Of course we're going to have varying opinions, but if we just focused our energy towards our biggest quandary - that being the gray area between state and Federal Law(For many of us). Whether we are political lobbyists or just closet growers, I like to think of us all as activists for the cause. I'm going to forcefully end my ranting here, but I can't promise that it won't emerge every now and then. :] Anyways, I am no veteran nor novice to growing, but I can promise that I'm ambitious. I invite any advice, suggestions, questions, jokes, stoner ramble, conspiracy theories or whatever! So here it is, this is a new room i just built last month, w/ hopes of expanding. I sort of had a slow start w/ my seedlings because I didn't have a setup for them until a couple weeks past germination, but I'm hoping after it's established ill have a good hybrid of SoG/ScroG in rotation. Thanks for looking!

Yeah, screw haters! Now look at me, im hating on haters lol
As long as it doesn't take too much bandwidth ill just keep posting them as they are. I suppose there aren't too many people w/ dial-up anymore...

I'm a member at the site I think you refer to and yes, I just don't feel like posting much over there because of the negative energy and the big egos bouncing around. We're all members of the same species... lol
I have a couple little hints to tweak what looks to be a really good start.
-Addition of blue light. I'd hang a couple T12 flourescent shop lights in there with 'cool white' tubes ($10 per fixture) to help minimize stretch. They will add negligible heat, but the blue spectrum is important for young plants. In fact, since you are only vegging, you could just use the flouros instead of the more expensive HPS, which brings me to my next hint!
-Starting in smaller pots lets you cram lots of young plants in a smaller space or under a light that is cheaper to run (=even flouros!).
-That seedling you show is a little stretched and part of that is the red HPS light. You can bury it up to the round cotyledons, no deeper.
-You don't need a layer of pumice. Just your nice light soil mix is fine for drainage.
-Always check your pH meter in the buffer solutions before use, and every once in a while check its accuracy against a liquid test kit. Hanna meters are prone to early failure, and with your peat-based mix, you will very likely have to adjust your pH up after about the second month. Just an early heads up on that.
Anyway, welcome to the boards!

lol, yeah i thought they might have stretched a bit much. Could this be because i started them outside for their first few weeks during the room build? I was considering buying the T-5's for side-lighting, would this be sufficient? Im kind of building my room backwards. This will ultimately be just a flowering room, and to the left of it will be the veg room w/ a MH.

Sounds good, less weight and less materials!

Wow, this explains a lot of my frustration. I don't have time to go into it right now, on my way out of town, but I may have a few questions regarding dolomite lime. I'll take my laptop w/ me so I'll msg when I reach my destination - Santa Rosa here i come!
Thanks Stinky & Smokey!
