Coricidin HBP: Cough and Cold

I see alot of posts about DXM (dextromethorphan) but I havent seen any about Coricidin HBP: Cough and Cold. I am 20 years old, I have been addicted to this drug. It has had an extremely negative impact on my life. And I feel very bad for all the people I've introduced it to. I am not in any way affiliated with law enforcement, the government. I am not in any way affiliated with Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc. In fact, I am not affiliated with anything. I am unemployed and live with my mother currently, recovering from my drug abuse. Call me a concerned citizen, call me a dumbass. Call me what you will. I am stating 99% facts in this post, and if I am giving you my opinion, I will state so such as saying "In my opinion..." or "I think..." Please read on, whether you use dxm or not. I feel that the nation needs to be educated about this problem. I dont neccesarily want Coricidin taken off the shelves. In fact that's a rather stupid idea because for the people who actually need this drug, the people with high blood pressure who legitimately use it for their cough symptoms, need it. I guess what I am trying to say is I would like some measures taken to prevent people from abusing this product.
But until some action can be taken, Coricidin HBP: Cough and Cold is still on walmart and pharmacy shelves across the country. So users please dont flame me for causing you to not be able to acquire it. Go get some right now if you want it.

My Intention I am not in any way attempting to start a flame type anti-dxm post. And I am not in any way trying to glorify the act of overdosing on dxm. In fact, I do not reccomend it at all whatsoever. Yes, it is a very intense trip unlike nothing else. I want to emphasize that CORICIDIN HBP:COUGH AND COLD WILL GET YOU TRIPPED OUT BETTER AND MORE EFFICIENTLY THAN -ANY- OTHER DXM PRODUCT. THERE IS NO TASTE(IT IS A PILL) AND I EXPERIENCE NO NAUSIA AT ALL. Yes I have done it myself many times. I was addicted to this drug for 5 years and it put me in a state of severe psychosis eventually. But the fact of the matter is, it IS dangerous for you and can have a severe impact on your family. There can be NO denying of this. And I simply cannot be held responsible for someone reading my post and going out and buying some Coricidin. I am in no way at fault if this happens, and I dare anyone to try and get my address and have me arrested. I'll straight up GIVE you my address if you want it. I am not afraid. I am making an attempt to educate. And I figured this might be a good place to start. I just wanted to make a few things clear before I begin my post. Thanks.

Coricidin HBP: Cough and Cold is available at any walmart, kmart, or pharmacy, and also over the internet. It is completely legal. A box of 16 pills sells for approximately $6:00.
What is Coricidin HBP: Cough and Cold? It is a cough medicine specifically formulated for people with high blood pressure.(hence the HBP) Straight from the packaging itself, the following is the information.

Provides temporary relief of the following symptoms that occur with a cold: Coughs due to minor throat irritations, Sneezing, runny nose and itchy watery eyes due to the common cold, hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies

Directions: ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 YEARS OF AGE AND OVER: one tablet every 6 hours, not to exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours. This product is not for children under 12 years of age.

Active Ingredients (per tablet): Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 30 mg.

Availability You can buy up to 3 boxes at a time generally, and at walmart and some kmarts you need to be 18 to buy it, and are asked for your ID when purchasing. Some stores keep their Coricidin stock behind the shelf at the pharmacy as a safeguard.. not a safeguard to prevent people from abusing it, but only to prevent shoplifting. You can still go right up to the pharmacy clerk and ask for 3 boxes of coricidin. And it doesnt even prevent the shoplifting, because you can easily take the boxes and walk away to the counter as if to go pay for them up front, and just pocket them.
These are the ONLY safeguards whatsoever to prevent the abuse of this highly potent and potentially lethal product.

Who uses it, and how much? Generally, from my experience, it is most popular with the age group "12-18". This is very unfortunate. As we all know, this is the worst age to be poisoning your body with something like this. To get hallucinagenic effects from Coricidin, a person will take 8-16 pills usually. I've seen people take 24. I've seen people take 32. I've seen people take even 40 at a time.
Not just kids use this stuff though. I've seen men 40 years old do it. I've seen men 30 years old do it. I was in the army for one year, and got kicked out due to my coricidin abuse, even though they thought it was cuz i was insane. I've seen PVT's in the army abuse it. I've seen SPC's in the army abuse it. I've even seen a SSG (Staff Sergeant) abuse it once. I've seen soldiers do training with M16's and fire live ammunition while tripping on coricidin.
I've seen mothers abuse it around their children. I've seen children abuse it around their mothers. I've seen children abuse it WITH their mothers.
I've seen a cop's son abuse it. I've seen cop's ignore people on it almost as if they cant tell the person is on something.
I have seen people go to work on it. I have seen people miss work because of it. I have seen people work themselves so hard on coricidin, because they are so comfortably numb that they cant feel exhaustion. I've done the same thing.
I've seen people drive vehicles while on it. I've seen people get in car accidents because of it.
I've seen animals neglected because of it.
I've seen my sister cry because of it.

People HAVE DIED from this product. There have been cases where people died their first time taking it, and there have been cases where they've done it lots of times and died during one of their random abuse periods. There are also cases like mine who have taken it far more than almost anyone on the face of the earth, and are still alive to this day. And I consider myself VERY lucky to have finally quit. The problem was, i didnt WANT to quit. I never even tried. And finally after being insane for 5 years, I suddenly broke down, cried for my mother and sister, cried and cried for myself, and realized it was over. I had to stop. I dont know what triggered it. But it happened. I am very thankful to God for this.

You will be amazed to know that I have taken large doses of coricidin over 1000 times in the past 5 years. That's over 32,000 pills. That is over $12,000 in cost. And that is 5 years of hurt and suffering for my family and friends. I'm not bragging about this in any way. I just dont want to see it happen to anyone else, ever again.

The bottomline is, anyone can do Coricidin. And while it is quite obvious to someone who knows the "way you look on it", myself and others have managed to abuse it and go around other people on it without getting caught many times. Are you beginning to see why this drug can potentially be so dangerous??

One case though, that I've never seen anyone else do, is my own case... I have several times taken 72 pills at once. I came very close to dying though. I felt deaths hand upon me. I could feel myself slipping away...
More commonly though, I would take 16 pills to begin with and 16 pills every 12 hours thereafter until i had to stop for whatever reason. Yes.. I was a binge tripper i like to call it.. I would stay awake for MANY days sometimes 100 hours + on purely Coricidin pills and water.
Was I able to effectively abuse this product and maintain a stable life and career and family? NO. Did I have any friends that thought I wasnt crazy? NO. Was I able, physically and mentally to take a shower more than once per week? NO. Could I have a bowel movement when i wanted to or needed to? NO. Could I feel, hear, see, taste, or smell anything like a normal human being. NO.

The worst thing of all... To my knowledge as of this date, The manufacturers of Coricidin HBP:Cough and Cold, Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc. have done nothing to prevent the abuse of this drug aside from the mandated warning on the box. Is this legal? Probably. Should it be? I don't believe so.
I would like to form a group of concerned citizens interested in getting this product restricted to a prescription-only product. I dont know if it is possible, and it is going to take alot of time, work, and money.

By the way, those of you saying "oh bullshit, how can it be stronger than any other dxm products?" ... Coricidin contains no antihistimines. the other active ingredient besides the dxm, is the chlorphenaremine malaete. Somehow in coricidin this is just the right combination of the two drugs with no antihistimines to cause a massive hallucination near psychosis state. So THAT'S what makes it different.

I tried coricidin once, popped twelve of em and I felt like I was flying after an hour a 40oz 'o Steel Reserve and a few bowls. Then after a half hour of excrutiating pain in my gut I was chillin in slow-mo till I tried to go to sleep. Then the crazy hallucinations started. It was cool as hell.
