Libertarian Party sends condolences to the Republican National Committee
With the rise of John McCain, LP offers sympathy for the death of small-government values within the GOP
Washington, D.C. - Following a solid McCain victory in the Super Tuesday primaries, the Libertarian Party has sent Republican headquarters a funeral wreath marking the death of limited-government values within the Republican Party. The wreath was hand-delivered to the D.C. offices of the Republican National Committee. "We simply felt the need to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Republican Party as they undergo this tough time within their party," says Libertarian Party National Media Coordinator Andrew Davis, who delivered the wreath.
"Given that it has become readily apparent that Senator McCain will soon be the presidential nominee for the Republican Party," reads a card that accompanied the wreath addressed to RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, "we, the staff of the Libertarian National Committee, send our condolences to you upon the death of small-government principles within the GOP."
The note continues:
Libertarians encourage competition within both the free-market and politics. Unfortunately, with the rise of John McCain and the big-spending practices of the Bush administration, the two-party system has emerged as representing only one philosophy - big-government liberalism.
With your loss, the Libertarian Party will continue to move forward to represent those American patriots who still believe in smaller government, lower taxes and more individual freedom.
"McCain's Super Tuesday win marks the death of limited government values within the Republican Party, which had struggled with its principles throughout the Bush administration," says Shane Cory, executive director of the Libertarian Party. "It is a day of mourning for the few remaining small-government Republicans."
For pictures of the wreath and its delivery to the RNC headquarters see below. For more information and interview requests, please call Andrew Davis at (202) 333-0008 during normal business hours, or at (202) 731-0002 during any other time.
The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Hahah, I'm really glad the Libertarian party came out and did this. Makes me proud!
I just wish the Republican party was like it used to be. You know, like when it used to be like the Libertarian party. Small government! Personal freedoms and choices! Anti-Socialism!
Those are the reasons why I am a registered Republican. Well that and so I can vote against the Dems in the primary!

 i'm with you. there is a hunger for freedom here that neither of the two major parties seem capable of delivering. freedom from being the world's nanny. freedom within for States to be free from the other States. these are the issues i want to hear about this election season. this could be an interesting year. :smokin:

I still don't see the need to be an isolationist nation.
I guess that providing our allies the goods, services, protections, medicines and security they need to survive, in exchange for trade agreements, information technologies, and intelligence sharing makes us a nanny to the world?
You think the world hates us now...? Wait till we get some moron in power that want's to remove our troops from s. Korea, Germany, Afghanistan. The resulting effects on those countries economies and security would be devastating. Crashing our allies' economies, and providing them less security is no way to extend the hand of friendship. In some instances, genocide could be the result.
Just wait till that same moron decides to let states make-up their own laws contrary to the laws of the US. Every other state on the southern border could decriminilize illegal immigration, others could force socialized medicine on us, while still others could make individual trade agreements with foreign scum.
We are 50 united states, (give or take a couple) not 50 united (yet autonomous) countries.
Granted, the Republicans often sway a tad from their root principles. Each party does, depending on the pressing social, geo-political, economic issues inherent at the time. Were they so inflexible, they would simply be marginalized party along the same line as the Libertarians.

Rusty, i guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree. i don't think we are helping the rest of the world by meddling in their affairs. we will be best served just coming home and let the rest of the world take care of themselves. now, after i take that job at the State Department, i may change my mind but . . .:stoned:
as far as States rights, i believe in self rule. there is obviously a need for a united policy on the border and national defense, etc. but do we really all need to march in lock step on every single social and medical issue? do you trust the dea more than you trust your doctor? but, again, i understand your point, too. :rasta:

and before anyone says anything . . . my views may be similar to some things that Ron Paul has said during his campaign, but i'm not just repeating them, that is just my own personal opinion. i mean no disrespect to anyone who disagrees.

The only way I can see doing that is if we were to cut off ALL relations good or bad. Typhoon hits....don't call us anymore! People starving.....oh well. Genocide.....not our business nor do we care.
In personal lives we find with close friends that if they need a meal, one is waiting and if something breaks loose while we're out...we've got their back. How many of our friends are in Afghanistan right now? Are, or were, in Iraq?
Also, when we do a food drop on a starving country it would be nice to know that it's being distributed to the people and NOT distributed among some petty Dictator and his thugs.
Now if we're in the business of handing out favors fine....if not, then it all stops.
Have a good one!:s4:

^^^^^ i have talked with guys who have been in Iraq and they have told me that the Iraqi's will smile and shake your hand but as you turn away they will run they're finger across their throats, in an obvious gesture. i mean no disrespect for our soldiers, we all know y'all are the best, but i just personally believe we could cut back on some of our int'l bases, and maybe put them on the border or something. thats all i'm saying.
