Venting issue
Alright, I'm currently running a 600 watt HPS light.
I am using a Super Sun 2 hood, with the tempered glass, and a Lumatek digital ballast. Heat is a problem, atm my highs are 85 degrees, but this is using a 177 cfm Vortex blower to push air in, with a passive exhaust. Thing is, the vortex is about to be hooked up to a can filter when I start my 12/12 cycle.
So I bought a 6 inch Ecoplus, and am planning on hacking a hole (okay, sawing a square in the top right and bottom right corners) in which to put a flange. My question is, would it be better to use my Ecoplus fan to pull air out with a passive intake, or push air in with a passive exhaust.
Oh, and another issue... for the can filter, do I want it pulling air through the filter and out the blower, or blowing air into the filter?
Thanks in advance.

i would think it would be good to hook up your system with the strongest fan to your hood. have the fan suck air out of your hood through your fan blowing out to your filter and have a passive intake. if temps are still alittle too high then try and put a fan on the intake(if you dont have a vaccum on your closet then your whole place will smell as its not goin through your filter)

yea. i'd suggest putting the fan in position to where it will suck the hot air out. having an active intake and passive exhaust kind of swirls around the hot air. yes it cools, but you'll notice a temp decrease with powered exhaust. you can set up the fan similar to a cool tube set up with the hood you have since it already has tempered glass.
by the way. if your temps are 75-85 with the lights on already you are doing very good. i'd suggest just switching your fan to pull air OUT of your box instead of IN. then see if you need the fan. hope i helped. im kinda out of it.... you know:rastasmoke:

definetely a help, thanks man

Yup, passive intake is the best way to go, as is filtering the air as it exits. makes no sense pumping it back into the growroom, to be filtered again.
You mentioned cutting a hole...is that hole going to be made in the walls of your appartment? If so, I hope you and the appartment staff are on good terms. A visit from the police responding to a destruction of property call, would likely suck.

All is well, now :]. I have my hood set up like a cool tube. I have my vortex blower pulling air through my filter, pumping it through the hood, out the other end, and then through my panda. And a passive intake. As for the holes, no, not in the wall. In the panda I stapled to the inside of the closet door frame. I was still a little worried about all the noise I was making during the construction period, as all the apartments are setup the same.. but that was a few weeks ago, so I'm assuming all is well. I ditched my extra inline fan(at least until summer) and am still operating in the same temp range. Peace
