i currently have 9x23 watt fluorescents and i want to get an hps light for the flower. I do need to keep temperature down to 70 though and its in a small room im building. about 3x2x3 and then another box on top that will be the same size

You can, and some ppl grow with nothing but an HPS. But Metal halide for veg is better, then hps for flower. They tend to stretch a bit more just under hps.Quote:

70 degrees during the day. right now im at 75, but in a few months it will be a lot hotter and i wont be able to keep it in the 70's. im going to go to the gardening shop tomorrow and ask them about which lights they have. I can't buy online so hopefully its not to much more expensive.
Just make sure you have good ventilation and you should be ok, a 6' fan took care of a 1k hps over the summer with no issues. But yeah they will cost you prolly quite a bit more in a store compared to online.Quote:

A CMH bulb will work very well for both veg and flower. They run cooler than regular HPS bulbs too. Try and find a 250w for your grow space.
