Preserving Chemicals in Weed
I acquired some chronic in late December and have been using it 1-3 times a week since then. For the first month or so, it gave me great highs; mellow, not too intense, but still that feeling of being really high. However, over the past few weeks, I have been getting overly intense highs, with really intense body highs, which is something that I don't like. My friend said that this was due to chemicals in the weed breaking down into CBN, and that the increased CBN caused the intense body highs.
So I'm wondering: is there a way to conserve the chemical makeup of marijuana, or is the breakdown of certain chemicals unpreventable?

Its more likely due to tolerance. Try a different strain and smoke that for a few weeks. Then pull out your old strain and you'll be flying high.

Have you been smoking the same amount each time? If you smoke too much you'll have some intense highs when you first start smoking. It's probably a tolerance issue though I still hit a new level every once in a while.
But yeah your friend is right, THC breaks down into CBN and produces the "couchlock" effect and a more messed up feeling. This website claims that "CBN levels can be kept to a minimum by storing cannabis products in a dark, cool, airtight environment. Marijuana should be dry prior to storage, and may have to be dried again after being stored somewhere that is humid." It also depends on how early/late the plant is harvested overtime more THC will breakdown into CBN.

I usually only smoke one or two bowls for a night, and usually it's no more than two times a week, so I don't think it's a tolerance issue.
I store it in a jar in my basement, which is usually pretty cool. I don't know about humidity though. Maybe just this type breaks down quicker than most? I don't know.
Thanks for the help.

Was this weed fresh, recently harvested when you did buy it?
You could also make a test... try to smoke smaller amounts of this weed and see if the effects you are having now are caused only by smoking too much of this weed, or if the high itself is different from how it was before, no matter how much or how less you smoke.
