LST in flowering. Untie her or keep her in bondage??
I get my HPS and MH light tomorrow and can move my plants into their new homes. I have one plant that is just massive. I was wondering if it would produce better bud at this point if I just untied her and let her grow up or if I just kept tying her down. She's in LST right now.
Right now she's in her dark period so I can't get any new shots of her, but I'll try to grab some tomorrow.
What in your opinion produces better buds, a plant that continued to be LST'd all the way till the end of flowering or a plant that was allowed to be free?
Let me know your opinions.

well if u did all of that work tying it down to get better light to bud sites then i dont see why u would untie it. :rastasmoke:

There is where the problem lies. I apparently did such a good job with LST that everytime I retie her down her secondary, third, fourth, fifth growth just bushes out and all my bud sites get covered up again.
I thought about trimming some leaves but it would require alot of trimming. I may try some tying down again tomorrow but I'm just about completely out of room.
I'll be grabbing a pic today before lights go out hopefully so maybe someone can give me some advice on what to do here. I tuck ALOT of leaves and am constantly removing wilting leaves but the growth just doesn't stop. I thought about transplanting to a 5 gallon pot from a 3 gallon so I could get more space to LST but I'm not sure that the 5 gallon pot is any wider than my 3 gallon pot.
Pics tonight, hopefully that'll help with people more expierenced than me being able to give out some advice.

Regardless of what you decided to do, DON'T go overboard trimming away too many leaves! The dead ones obviously need to be removed, but you should leave most of the others unless it is absolutely necessary to remove them. You can go crazy with string and get away with it, but do too much trimming... and you'll probably regret it.
Also, don't forget that all those secondary, third, and fourth growth sites are each likely to produce a cola under an HPS... another big plus when training for yield.

well I couldn't get a pic of her today. Lights were out by the time I got home. So I just worked on the cabinet.
cut the exhaust hole. Using a box fan up top. According to Lasko's specs it pushes 3226 cfm at it's highest speed. I think it's safe to assume it pushes at least 2000 cfm at it's highest speed (I always try to be conservative with my specs).
Installed the HPS light have the ballast sitting outside on the ceiling of the cabinet. The light hanger thing (locking nylon cords) really suck. One of them just didn't work so I used some string I used to LST my plants until I can figure out something better.
I have it all on right now so I can see what the temps are going to be like with the plants in there before I install the intake. I'm hoping for sub 80's with just exhaust and maybe around 70-75 with an intake fan. We shall see.
I'll take pics of my ghetto cab in about an hour after I think I have a good reading on the temps.
edit: I counted the possible "Main Colas" and I had approx 20 on my big plant. I think that's good. I have another 5-10 that could also be contenders.

Here are some pics of them in the cabinet. Estimated temperature at the canopy top was about 82 degrees dead center of the hps 19" away.
All I have right now is a circulation fan and an exhaust fan. Not too shabby. I'll get better pics about the female in question but tonight you'll have to settle for pics of my ghetto cab. I've never constructed anything in my life so I'm pretty proud of it so far. It just needs some wire cleanup on the inside but it'll look pretty good once it's gone through the quality assurance portion of the build.. heh.
You can't see in the pictures but it's got a hinge for the front door. Lined with mylar and a latch with pad lock is going to be installed tomorrow.
