When using a 200w envirolite lamp. Do I need an extension plug with a surge protector or is it ok using a normal extension plug without one. I am worried it will cause fire too much juice through the socket or am I too paranoid and need to chill:rastasmoke:
chill out an roll another fat one lol :thumbsup: i think its fine they dont really cause a surge but if your using other things on the plug might be wise you can never be to safe ;)
If you want some insurance against frying your light or ballast during a lighting strike or some other surge, then you should have a surge protector between the outlet and the light. If you don't it's probably not a big deal, unless your house/flat is not properly wired. In that case, yes I would definitely have a surge protector.

you shouldnt need one, but its worth it to put a 5$ (usually less) protector in case anything ever does threaten your 100$ lights
