Sunni Militia Ends Cooperation with U.S. over Civilian Deaths
In Iraq, a U.S.-allied militia staged a massive walkout from its guard posts this weekend in protest of U.S. attacks that have killed twelve civilians this month. Members of the group, known as Sons of Iraq, are paid ten dollars a day and issued military vests to fight alongside U.S. forces. But nearly two thousand members abandoned their positions Saturday following a U.S. attack on a town south of Baghdad the day before. Militia members say U.S. forces deliberately opened fire after landing in a helicopter. The group says they will no longer work with the U.S. military.

What kind of left wing propoganda crap is this? This is from the L.A. Times since you DON'T have a link:
Since the latest shooting, some of the guards, who are known as Sons of Iraq, have abandoned their checkpoints to protest what they consider careless U.S. behavior. The U.S. military pays the security volunteers, formerly known as concerned local citizens or Awakening Councils, about $10 a day to maintain security in their neighborhoods.

"We applaud the citizens of Iraq who are taking a firm stand against those who choose not to honor al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr's ceasefire pledge," said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, MND-B spokesman. "The Sons of Iraq are an able and important ally in this effort."
