So I am starting my plants off in starter plugs, after the plant starts growing and roots develop i was planning on transplanting into 3 gallon grow bags. Can a young plant, survive in a 3 gallon grow bag? or do i have to transplant into a smaller pot and then into the 3 galloner? Thanks.
if you have the room it is ok to plant in the 3gal bags, its debateable but it is said that you plant will grow better if you let it get to the point of rootbound and then transplant to a bigger pot.

ok sweet, how do i know when my plants are rootbound? just by looking at the dirt and seeing alot of roots? and why is that smiley face in your sig smoking the bong from the bowl? weird.

A plant can grow to about 4-6" happily in a party cup depending on how bushy it is. You can check by letting the soil get rather dry, supporting the soil with one hand, and upending it and giving a sharp slap on the bottom with the other. The root ball should slide right out. If roots are starting to coil around the bottom, or coming out the drain holes, repot!
