What the fuck are they thinking. Is it really so difficult to just not publish cartoons like this, regardless of wether the extremists were out of line sending death threats, or whether you think the muslims are perhaps overreacting to it, portraying a religious figure as a terrorist is very disrespectful, in my opinion.

Maybe, but it's free speech.

If it is clearly going to upset a whole load of people though, isn't it better to just not say it?

No, it's a snowball effect. Where does it end?
Everything is too PC in this world anymore. No one wants to step on anyones toes.

Well, if it threatens to spark off riots and introduce the possibiilty of a terror attack by some extremist nutters, isn't it better to just not print something like this.
In Scotland, if you burn an american flag with the words FUCK BUSH on it you can get arrested, not much free speech there.

I was there when it happened, and I was one of the many who marched down to the police station and held a protest outside it that night.
I'm just saying out of respect for the majority of muslims who are peaceful, I don't think it is right to print a cartoon which effectively brands anyone who worships mohammed as an extremist who wants to blow up the west. Free speech or not, it's very disrespectful.

Sucks for you, glad I live in a "facist terror state" ran by an evil dictator that just hasn't remembered to censor political satire because bed wetting libs and islamic terrorists can't take it.
How exactly do you portray an islamic facist, It's a comment on culture not race. They aren't born Islamic facists, it's open game. Should they be portrayed with a fucking rosery or cross so they aren't offended. Fact is they are MUSLIM EXTREMISTS, but don't point that out! I don't want them to get mad and hurt me! Holy Sweet Feathery Jesus!! :asskick::asskick::asskick::asskick::asskick:

The extremists who blow themselves up on trains have got nothing to do with religion, or Islam. Let's keep the portrayal of those two things separate, out of respect for true muslim cultural values.
Fair enough, they made a mistake and printed a cartoon which offended the muslim world, I'm sure they didn't mean to. They now have the assholes who threatened the "artists" life, Great! There's no need to kill anyone for putting their foot in it.
They donot need to reprint these cartoons knowing that it will offend people again. It's not necessary.

me calling you a very nasty nasty word is free speech, but it is not very nice! :) If you know it is going to antagonize people, or lead to death you take full responsibility in unleashing the wrath of free speech!

So great many instill necessity for freedom of speech, so few have the respect or dignity demanded of it - me, hehe

Hey I hope that no one comes and tries to kill me because SOMEONE SOMEWHERE MAY BE OFFENDED!!!! LMFAO!!!!
Not about religion huh? I think you have a very basic fundamental lack of knowledge about this if that's what you think. Wow guess that explains everything that I need to know, I was wondering how anyone could possibly think..then you said that and now I understand!
My other avatar was the most prolific American murderer ever, I was scared that using it might upset someone and then they might come kick my ass, so now I am gonna use this one!

The first time it was just satire...unfortunately some people can't take a joke as well as they can throw out death threats. This time, full well knowing what may happen, is close to inciting a riot.
Controversy sells just as well as bad news.....hopefully no innocent people get hurt along the way. I really don't understand how a group of people that gather in the thousands and chant "Death to the infidels" can really have a bitch about something on this order.
Have a good one!
