planning out my scrog grow and lookin for suggestions...

I'm going to build what looks like a chest that is going to measure 3 feet x 2 feet x 2.5 feet high. I'm planning to use 8" pots and having the scrog screen 10" above the top of the pots, giving 10" for plant growth (I also plan to LST) There is then a 6" buffer zone from the screen to the lights (This is just rough guess as but will hopefully be more and the lights won't hang 6" down from the top) I'm planning to do 4 seeds and give 1 week veg then throw it to 12/12. I also plan to put a 2" or 3" footing on the bottom with a fan sucking air in from the bottom's right or left side and having the exhaust blow out the back left side since that's where the vent is that sucks the air out of my room is at :) If you couldn't guess from that clue I'm doing this all based off of that, then i don't have to worry as much with smell, since it'll be blown right to that vent and voila, odor control :D Soil and such will be typical that everyone is using, fox farm if i can get it local at home de-pot or lowes. Probably the worst part about this plan is I'm going CFL but I've seen what others are doing with CFL and if i get all 4 plants females the yield will be enough to last me for a year :hippy: I was plannin on 6 CFL's using 2 3 light adapters or 3 2 light adapters lol and covering the walls of the cab in either mylar or painting semi-gloss white. But yeah I think after probably a year now of reading around and looking at people's grows I've gotten a pretty good idea but i'd still like some imput on my fan set up, if it would be wise sucking air in from the bottom or if i should have exhaust and the intake on the back but doing intake bottom right and exhaust upper left corner? Thanks in advance.

BTW I'm not growing in a college dorm room, i'm growing at home w/ my parents ok as long as i don't stank pu the house (Which is why i may go just 2 of the better plants.

Yo it's like your reading my mind,LOL :D.My box measures almost the exact same as yours and I placed a fan in the lower right side of the box with a vent on the upper left side which causes the air to blow through and out the vent with no problems.I originally started out with cfl's which were great,but then I up graded recently to T5 flourecent lights which kick major butt.The box is also lined with mylar which makes for really good reflectivity.The reason why I put the fan there was simply out of convienence and the exhaust pipe in the upper side of the cab because I figured heat rises and the fan blows out any heat and provides for good air movement.If you close the box and place your hand over the vent you can feel the air comming out because of the was it is set up as well as the size of the box.If heat is a concern for you and ya' want to use flourecents look into the T5's which are pretty affordable to buy as well as run and let out hardly no heat :thumbsup:.The way it is set up with 5 T5's running about 3-4 inches above the plants the temps usually stay from 78-about 84 depending on the temp of the room the cab is in.Good luck,and keep me posted on what you decide and how it comes out.

growing from seed you need more time in veg. should go atleast 1-1.5 months to let the plant mature.

exhaust and a carbon filter are a must even with cfls. cfls do get warmer than t12-t5 floro tubes. i would recommend floro tubes because you get a better light spread and they run cooler. even with afew plants they can seriously stink up your house. 3 small 2 month old vegging only plants stunk up my whole house without my carbon filter.get a filter or make one. theres abunch of tutorials out here. if your worried about price and buying stuff do a search for diy here with the search feature and abunch of stuff will come up

when doing scrog style of grow i would recommend making sure you have all females before you turn lights to 12/12 unless you dont care about abunch of seeds. it will be very hard to untangle afew or bunch of plants.

wont find fox farm at lowes/depot have to go to a more traditional gardening/fertilizer store
