I know this ad is for Stinky, but I read that if you do 24hrs of Darkness and and then start 12/12, recommended in HighTimes
The idea is to pump the level of florigen metabolites at the onset of flowering, causing a quicker flowering response.
Works fairly well ( couple days off the stretch) on maybe 75% of strains- on the rest you'd be better off giving them light, which will obviously make them grow faster than sitting in the dark.
Little stressful for the plants.
thanks.
i was just asking for stinky bc i saw something about it in one of her sticky's once.
gracias though, i think im going to try it.
Rhizome's the guy on that one. Many growers swear by it. I generally don't use that method just because I don't have the space to isolate plants in the dark.
how long of a dark period should i do?
ive heard from various sources anywhere from 24-48 hrs.
is there a magic number???
Haven't heard this before...Sounds like it's worth a try :)
i knew nothing about metabolites, but i have used this method. honestly it did seem to kick the flowering in faster. instead of 5-7 days it seemed to show on day 3-4 with vigor. i only left the lights off from the last day/hour of vegg and skip a day to get the new schedual for 12/12. whatever hours you would like it to be. i believe it, though i dont know why it works. maybe it scares the plants into flowering faster.lol
