temprature troubles!!

hello every1 i have a "cabinet set up" 37 inches wide by 15 with a height of 75 inches. Great stuff for a couple of rich with T.H.C plants!

250w hps lamp
reflective mylar " all round"
seperate "air box which houses 2 carbon filters.. intake and out take.
2x 4inch "100mm" bathroom extractor fans rated at 80m3/h

HERE'S MY PROBLEM! :mad:

within 5 minutes of powering up the closet reaches 105.F or 40.c
about 25.f more than i want... i dare leave the lamp turned on for more than 5 mins..... WHAT CAN I DO TO KEEP COOL??

1. Gonna have to increase air flow...hot out the top...cool in from the bottom. Leave the door open if needed.

2. Mylar reflects heat..as well as light. You may need to switch to flat white paint.

yep ive got my 4inch out fan at the top and a seperate fan with duct sending new air to the bottom.. from what ive learned i do need more powerfull fans... but at the cost of making noise....
my cabinet is designed for stealth, it is air tight and leaving one door open is a big no no lol

as for mylar reflecting heat... DAMN!! it cost me an arm n leg so it must stay.....

any ideas where i can get a big yet quiet enoth duct fan anyone?
also been looking into cooling hoods for H.I.D lamps any ideas???

Fixing problems means fixing mistakes. It doesn't really matter if the mylar did cost you an arm and a leg. What do want, a shiny box or buds? (The mylar for a box your size should cost under $5 so, if you paid more than that, you got took.) In any event, if you ask for advice and then just come up with silly excuses why you don't want to follow the advice, well, sooner or later all you'll have are the know-nothing idiots passing on rumors.

I may not have a lot of posts on these boards, but if it wasn't for a lot of the people on these boards such as Dutch Pimp, PC, Crispi, Stinky, Weedhound, etc. I wouldn't have a fraction of the information I now have about growing. Don't be such a douche bag.

Anyways, My first grow was in a smaller space and I had very similar problems. First, you don't need a carbon filter on your intake, nor a fan. Both of your fans should be used on the exhaust (not in series either), that should give you more airflow. You also don't really need a carbon filter at all until it gets into flowering, that's when you will notice the smell, not having one will also increase airflow. Your intake should be somewhere at the bottom of the cab. and should be bigger than the exhaust. If you can take some pic's I'd be more than happy to help you out. As long as you learn to stop being a douche and accept advice, of course. :jointsmile:

You need at leas 120cfm or 200 cmh fan for out and drill some holes ta the bottom of your cab. SCROG is the method you want to use for such space and read the book The closet cultivator by Ed Rosenthal. LPH!

another one is make sure your ballast isn't in the cab :) just a thought

Dutch an PharmaCan are right! The mylar reflects heat.. The flat white paint would have cost you every bit of .99. That would be a shoe-string budget. You still got your arm and leg?
