Hey I finally got some smokeable bud but the buzz doesn't last long. Will hanging it make the buzz last longer?? I have just been drying it with foil over a lamp. It gets me very high but short lasting buzz about an hour or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D :confused:
how long has your plant been flowering? did you pick it early? you can try drying by placing the bud in a paper bag and shaking it lightly dayly and opening it up to air out for a minute. if you try to dry too fast (with foil under light) the potency will diminish as the thc can evaporate away.
but please let us know what level of growing you are at as that can tell you if that is why it is a short buzz.
Well this is my first grow. When I switched to the flowering cycle I was using a veg light they flowered under that for about 3 weeks. Then I got a flouro for flowering and the buds started to grow at a much more rapid rate. Now the buds are rather small but all the pistils are turning dark red even brown. I thought that was when I should harvest them. I don't have money for one of those high powered magnifying glasses. Any how all said and done they have been flowering since late December. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
you are right, whenthe pistils change to orage or brown, then it is ready. some times it is better to pick them whenthe pistils just start to change and not after all of them have changed.

yes... that's why we give the plant at least 12 hours of light a day...and keep the temp. around 80 degrees...Quote:

hillbilly, i'd say it's about time to harvest man, when the pistils go brown in colour (some go purple and other colours) it's ready...
you could possibley leave it for a few more days if you feel like it. but every strain has a specific amount of days that it should be flowering.. my strain for example.. has 55-60 days of flowering.. that puts me right around end of march... if i can restrain myself for that long
on the other hand, if you're talking about during th ecuring process (depending on how you do it) yes, light and heat can speed up the rate at which the thc decomposes.
suggested curing methods are in dark, mildly warm not hot enviroment.
hey bobbong, he was asking why his dried bud did not keep him high long. he also said he dried it in tin foil under a light. hence, "light and heat lower thc."
btw, i'll post any comment i like!! lets see your experience bob. i've been growing for many years, both indoor and out, so i know what i'm talking about. i've seen your little plants, and they don't look like anything to write home about!

hey it is a bit past 420, now that we got all this out. now we can relax and chill. bobbong and dylan, you have both helped me in the past. and i've learned to take opinions and advice from others and then I will use my judgement of what i'm told from people, of what is correct for me. thanks to you two and many others.
it is time for you to harvest, if you want to get a longer buzz, cure it, that means put it in a bottle and open it for 10 min everyday for like a week, then it should do fine, if not do this.
Put some of your drying but in the freezer for 2 nights, SEALED dont get any humidity in, this helps the components to break the celular walls of the plant, so keep drying it after that and youll get a stronger efect. *** USE A LIT BIT OF YOUR HARVEST TO JUST GIVE IT A TRY.
Another option is to put your harvest in a sealed bottle and leave it for a couple months, the potency will increase dramaticaly. The weed is like the wine, if you leave it longer it gets better.
Another recomendation is for your next grow, when its flowering time reduce the water suministration, this has proven an increase in the potency
