check ebay. i got a nice 600w 5.1 kenwood rig that i picked up locally for under 60$.
great sound, great condition, and more inputs than i could need!
Bose is pretty good.. I have my livingroom wired with it. However the sub that came with the package isn't as good as I would like, so you could try hooking up a car audio such as a small amp and sub for the bass.. I've never tried that with a Bose system though so if you do take caution not to blow anything or set anything on fire... otherwise bose works wonders for movies with surround sound
Put together a system that sounds best to you..... reciever, amp, speakers, etc.... Don't worry about brand, but do try to get the best you can afford and what sound best to you. It couldn't hurt to take a fav CD, DVD, or whatever with you when you go to mix/match components and speakers.Quote:

The 2 satelite speakers are Sony 2 way bookshelf speakers
The center channel is a JBL 3 way
It sounds outstanding and will rock the house when I want to.
mcintosh is the good stuff. for better sound quality and power, get an amp/preamp system. for a more economical system, get a receiver. a receiver is an amp/preamp and tuner combined. for the best sound quality, don't get a system that is something you use with your television. a true music system has nothing to do with a television.
