Dehydrator?
OK, I have read about dehydrators not working well for drying bud, but I would think that mostly is because of too much heat, from off the shelf, they DO make a lot of heat, but looking at the mechanism, it sure looks like a perfect little drying box without the heat....so my question is, has anyone tried one for drying buds by defeating the heating coil? I bought one and defested the heating coil, just have to cut one wire, and it has been running now for about a day, and the buts are still nice and moist and seem to be drying ok, but this is my first crop, so I am a bit of a newbie, and cut one plant early because my first taster buds had a great head high that kept me up all night.....anyone ever tried that?

Don't know who's tried it... but you should watch out for how much airflow you have going through them.
If you dry the buds too fast, you'll "lock-in" the green/grassy taste.
But hey, keep it up!!!
Keep a log, and rate the buds... the ones dried one day after... one day and a half... two days... etc.
Then "rank" each smoke for taste/harshness/bud quality/etc.
Hope it all works out!

Dehydrator?
Well, after two days, the buds in the lowest tray, the ones I cut first, are a little cruchy dry, but the stems are still not breaking, just bending over, so I will let them keep going I guess, but it seems to be working pretty well. I am putting the trim in the lowest tray, and it is drying well, remember, I have defeated the heating coil, so only air flow. I am thinking I will put a dimmer on the motor today and slow the fan down a little bit, although it is not a really high airflow, not as high as I would expect from some o the homemade boxes I have seen on here with the 4 inch computer fams, that is a lot of airflow, but maybe they are drying too fast it the bud feels pretty dry after two days, and the stems are not breaking????
If this works, I will post some pics of how to defeat the heating coil if anyone is interested.....

Dehydrator?
I use a rubbermaid tote with a 4 in muffin fan drawing air out of the tub and a dryer vent hose with the opening at the top of my room, I dry 6-8 oz's in about 3 or 4 days and then move it to mason jars and open them each day untill done which is about 7 to 12 days more.
hope this helps

Dehydrator?
I use a dehydrator all the time because of my time restraints. If they are too dry and the stems are still a little soft, put the dry budz in a zip lock and ue a spray bottle to spritz a little water in the bag and seal it. After a couple hours the water will spread through out the budz and they will have a more even feel and not too crunchy.

I think for a good product you need to understand and balance "drying" versus "curing". The only thing that gets rid of the green taste is time though.

This is true, if you want all the chrlorophyl or green out you have to dry them naturally..
