Drug Test Approaching, I have some questions - Please Help!

Hey there. I have been reading through a lot of the posts regarding drug tests, and I still feel a little worried about mine coming up next week.

I am 22, and have been a very heavy smoker for 5+ years with no breaks. I only smoke high-grade, and I also smoked a lot of hash. I have not smoked since November 18 (6 weeks today).

I am 6'1 and 130 lbs (very skinny, REALLY fast metabolism), and I'm honestly not very active (exercise-wise). My test is for a new job, which is a State job (don't know if that means a cut-off lower than 50ng or not). I don't know if they will be doing a simple EMIT first, or if they will do the GC/MS test to begin with.

As of today, it has been 6 weeks since I've smoked. Up until 2 weeks ago (Week 4), I was still testing positive on home tests. Now I am getting just a weak line, which I have heard still counts as a negative. What I don't know is if there is any way that there is still a measurable amount in my system at all. I really wouldn't think so, but the faint line still worries me. I have also read that this may mean that I could be close to a 50ng cutoff. However, I have also read that people get a faint line nearly every time, no matter what. Some clarification here would be helpful.

I still plan on doing at least a light dilution method before my test, and I am also curious about what I should eat. I have read that red meat will increase my creatine levels, but I am unsure about fatty foods. I have heard that you should eat a LOT of fatty foods the day of the test and day before, but I have also heard that you should NOT eat fatty foods close to the test. So which is it, and why?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I really think I should be okay, but I can't really mess around when it comes to this job. Thanks so much!

It sounds like your doing everything right. A faint line is all it takes and you.ve got another 2 weeks to go so you should be good. I always do the dillution sticky. Its just good extra insurance.

Thanks killerweed. I appreciate your input, but your post didn't really answer my questions. You say all I need is a faint line, but does that mean I still have a measurable amount in my system if it's not completely solid? Also, what should I eat during the days leading up to the test, fatty foods or not, and why?

Anybody else out there? I would really appreciate your input here... a lot of people are viewing this post, just not replying... A little re-assurance would be great right now.

The thc lines are always faint,they never look as bold as the control line. If you have a faint line you will pass the EMIT test. The best thing you can eat is high fiber foods even Metamucil will help. It keeps things flowing so the thc isn't reabsorbed in your bowels. I'm not really sure on the fatty food issue. You really don't want more fat,its where the thc is absorbed. Unless its because its like dillution,the more fat you eat the more the thc is distibuted and therefor dilluted. FBR is the expert on this,maybe he'll be able to answer it.

i've been eating steaks for breakfast, BK for lunch and another steak for dinner trying to put a little more fat on my body. I've heard this works, so I'm hoping it doesn't have any negative effects.

I've only been doing this for the last 4 days before my test, before that was a very low fat high protein diet, mainly chicken and fruit.

I have never seen a test go straight to GC/MS. They use immunoassay then confirm non-negatives with GC/MS. EMIT is one type or brand of immunoassay.

Killerweed gavce you a good answer about the lines. Even if you test water it usually isn't as dark as the control. If the line can be photocopied or photographed, it's a line. Also, you said part of it right and part of it wrong. Home tests use 50 ng/ml cutoffs and use immunoassay technology. If you pass one of these, you are below 50. It doesn't necessarily mean you are completely clean. Could be completely clean but it means you are between 0-50.

Yes, we tend to recommend a good low fat, slightly lower calorie, high fiber diet leading up to the test and then 2-5 days before the test switch to higher fat, normal to slightly higher calorie, high fiber diet. Sometimes I say 2 sometimes 2-3 sometime 4-5 it kind of depends on how long you have had to get clean, physical activity, body type. With you being so skinny I would say 2-4 days. The point is to help get clean with a good diet by burning up fat stores then preventing your body from burning body fat stores the last few days.

Quick question for you. Am I correct in assuming that if you test under the 50 mg/nl cutoff I would pass w/ a UA or do I fail even if say I have a score of 20?? I just took and passed an at home test yesterday which has a cutoff of 50 mg/nl, and will take another before I head to my actual test, but just wanted to clear up if they still would count me as failing even if I was below the cutoff but still not completely clean.

If you test under 50ng you'll pass the standard EMIT test as long as there are no other problems. PH,creatine.
Doesn't matter whether its 50 or 20ng. The only time it will matter is if the do the GC/MS test. Which has a lower cutoff rate.
