Do you think ice in a bong really cools the smoke?

I just bought myself my first piece here in NZ. It has a large twist/ ice catch. I was wondering is it more just for show or do do you think the ice really manages to cool the smoke in those few seconds your hot smoke rushes by it?

It's all preference man, try it out, if you like it, keep doing it. I think it cools the smoke more so then without ice..

It does really cool down the smoke. I tried it a few times and it was better than just with some water in it.

yea it does cool it, especially if you got one of those fridges with an ice dispenser and you can get crushed ice, since my bong dosent got a catcher i fill it up with crushed ice and it works like a charm.

Ice doesnt just cool smoke, it filters it. When it passes through the ice chambers their is a huge temperature differential thir this causes alot of tar to build up on the glass, this is tar filtered from your smoke. Ice is much more than just cool smoke

Once you try an ice bong you always want an ice bong.

It also makes the bong colder to hold. That's always neat.

A bong with no ice is just wrong, not nice. :rasta:

If you have access to snow, try some of that, works wonders.
