i think im dying - it's over for me
I think its over for me.
Here's my problem.... I'm a head...by far, I've indulged in the "green guy" for many years now and we've always had a happy relationship untill recently.
Nowadays.... when I take a puff (i mean one even) instantly i get tightness in the chest, and bouts of extreme paranoia where I think I'm dying and having a heart attack and its the end for me.
This is very unlike me and unusual for my personality. I'm usually the one telling everyone else their ailments are all mental and in their head, and now its happening to me. I stumbled upon this board ahwile ago and figured there is no better people to ask ...what I should do....should I cut ties with one of my favorite lifetime companions (green guy)....?? Does this happen to anyone else...?
I don't know what to do, it seems puffing up is my only relief in life and I would hate to HAVE to stop.
Dont know.....any help is appreciated,
JR

Have you recently been smoking equatorial sativas, and had you previously been smoking indicas or hybrids? Do you have anxiety anyway, unrelated to your cannabis use?
As for the tightness, it's a good idea to go see your regular doctor and tell him completely about the situation, to rule out any medical condition.
I'm going to stick this over in the medical section.

i havent been smoking anything differnet that I have been for years and I'm not an anxiety ridden person...thats what I can't understand about this. After I puff...my chest gets tight and I have to burp alot ....its strange.
The end could be near..... :(

lol I doubt you're dying... The burping thing is quite normal. Keep up on your regular checkups though.

I know some spots that have beachfront gravesites if you are interested..
No. But really..your gonna have to abstain for awhile..talk to a doctor and face the fact that you may have to quit..it could be worse, you could die.

I don't think you're dying, either. You're having anxiety attacks. Those cause people to think they're dying instead of actually killing you.
Seriously, people can get anxiety disorders at any time, even if they haven't had them before. Stinky's question about whether you've been smoking more sativas than before is a good one because sativas, while they tend to deliver more of the upbeat, energetic, euphoric highs, also can cause more anxiety. Indicas are more relaxing and sedating/body-stoning.
Unfortunately, from what I've been reading most recently, it's the THC that not only produces much of the psycho-effective response that everyone associates with being high, it's also the chemical that, in vulnerable users, can bring on the anxious, jittery feeling. In a small percentage of the population, it's the chemical (they've found this out with testing) that can cause delusions and psychosis. CBD, the other main psychoactive chemical in weed, tends to be the component that chills and relaxes people.
Try taking a weed break and see if your anxiety gets better. If it does, you'll know that's what was aggravating it. Anxiety disorders are often helped by traditional medicines, so it would probably be worth going to see your doctor.

I speak as someone who suffers from anxiety and I stay FAR away from any weed that I suspect to be a tropical sativa. NO Mexi-brick EVER for the Stinkster. I choose pure indicas to not only avoid that unpleasant racy feeling, but to actually treat my anxiety/panic disorder.

Stop smoking for a week, THEN go have your breathing checked. You may have problems unrelated to cannabis, having more to do with your respiration in general.
Respiratory problems can cause a 'panic' response, even if you don't notice a breathing problem yet.

I have anxiety, too, and if I ever could have found a legitimate indica down here (in the land of tropical sativas), I'd have liked to have tried it. A hybrid was what helped my sister's chemo/cancer anxiety a lot more than the sativa-heavier strains.
I keep my anxiety at bay with exercise because it works like a charm to chill me out. On rare occasions when it's really bad, I will take a klonopin, but I try to avoid those. When school pressure is lighter (like now), my anxiety takes care of itself. I don't smoke anymore for other health-related reasons, but when I did, the smoke aggravated my asthma, which also caused chest tightness, and asthma can sometimes enhance or exacerbate anxiety because it mimics some of the symptoms. So consider whether possible breathing trouble could be aggravating your situation, too, Prince.

One word: BROWNIES.
The process of cooking the cannabis will not only give you the more mellow, painkilling compounds, but edibles won't aggravate any breathing problems you are having.
